Without clinging to the seemingly pleasurable things like power, wealth, and enjoyment of this life, but thinking that it would be a pity if I didn't practice the pure Dharma that brings permanent happiness, this is the first point of contemplation. Practicing the Dharma should also be like a fire on a beautiful woman's head, not procrastinating, but doing it immediately. The reason is that although this precious human body has been obtained, it is unreliable. From birth onwards, apart from the difference in lifespan, no one can escape death, and all beings in the high and low realms of existence will inevitably die in the end. Moreover, lifespan does not increase, and every moment that passes brings us closer to death, because everything has an end, so we will die quickly. Like a candle in the wind, there are many causes of death; like a water bubble, life is unstable; like a bird perched on a treetop, not knowing when it will fly away, death does not come in the order of old, middle, and young, so one does not know when one will die. In short, like a moth flying into a flame, like a collision of stars, one cannot be sure that one will not die now. At the time of death, nothing other than the Dharma can help. Like a sick person not planning for the next life when dying, one must abandon the affairs of this life with strong renunciation. Do not be lazy for even a moment, but like the fire of a great kalpa burning, the three doors of body, speech, and mind must diligently practice the Dharma, and one must make such a determination, this is the second point of contemplation. If one thinks, what is there to be afraid of death? If one does not have to be reborn after death and becomes nothingness, that would be good, but in reality, one will not become nothingness. Just as sweet seeds do not mix but ripen separately, from the causes of good and non-good deeds, the fruits of happiness and suffering will ripen, so one must correctly take and abandon good and evil. Moreover, if a virtuous deed is accompanied by the wisdom that realizes the absence of inherent existence, it is called uncontaminated virtue, or virtue that is a part of liberation. Because it is the cause of liberation, just as weeds grow along with a good harvest, temporary contaminated happiness will also come along, so one must diligently practice. Other than that, contaminated virtue that is unrelated to the path of liberation is called virtue that is a part of merit. It can only produce contaminated happiness and will eventually be exhausted, like sleep

Like a good dream last night, it is meaningless. Brahma, Indra, and the Universal Monarchs, like butterflies scattered by the wind, have no idea where they will be born or where they will go after death. Like the sun in the clouds, all the victories, defeats, joys, and sorrows of samsara are in turn. None of them can be constant on their own, so they cannot be trusted. In particular, the suffering of the three lower realms caused by defiled non-virtuous actions is unbearable even to hear, causing one's heart to pound. If one is born in the heavens, all the sufferings of those realms will arise. We ourselves have only accumulated sins, so our destination will not go beyond samsara. This samsara, whether born high or low, is an accumulation of suffering, a welcoming and sending off of suffering, a wave of suffering, and the nature of suffering, like a criminal escaping from prison. Now, we must generate a genuine desire to be liberated from samsara, which is the third point of contemplation. The only ones who can save us from such terrifying suffering of samsara are the Three Jewels, and there is no other way. Therefore, with the thought that only the Three Jewels are our refuge and reliance, visualize these places as flat as the palm of your hand, filled with jewels, a wish-fulfilling tree growing luxuriantly, with branches extending to the center and the four directions. In the center of the trunk, on a wide and tall throne, resides the root guru, and above him are the gurus in the lineage, arranged in tiers, residing in the form of the embodiment of all the Three Jewels. On the branches extending to the four directions, in front is the mandala of the Yidam deity, on the right are the common Buddhas such as Shakyamuni, in the back is the Dharma Jewel in the form of stacked scriptures, and on the left are the common Sangha, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas. Around these, visualize the special Sangha, Dakinis, Dharma Protectors, and Wisdom Beings, residing like dense clouds. Visualize yourself surrounded by sentient beings without distinction between enemies and friends, as numerous as the dust on the earth, and lead them with strong faith and longing to take refuge. Homage! May all the Tathagatas of the ten directions and three times fulfill our hearts.
