The root is samaya. This samaya, like the common root and branches of both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism, and especially its essence, is to focus on devotion to the guru. As a symbol of this, one should keep a representation of the guru's body, the texts of the sadhana inseparable, and strive for the tenth-day offering, etc., and diligently practice the guru's sadhana. Thus, thinking to protect all subtle and gross samayas without deterioration, please repeat after me: "Whatever the chief has commanded, all of that I will do." And offer the mandala of thanks. From today onwards, I offer myself as a servant to you. Please accept me as your disciple, and grant me a share. Offering the body. By this merit, etc., dedicate the virtue to enlightenment. Then enjoy the tsok, and perform the subsequent activities such as offering the remainder offerings, etc., as they arise. Here it is said: This profound Dharma, within the snowy mountains of Tibet, is spread like wind to various schools and traditions. But if many, both high and low, perform many rituals, what is the point of us imitating and creating labor? However, if one does not know the symbolic meaning and actual meaning of empowerment and consecration, and only acts in a material way, how can one accomplish the path to enlightenment—the ripening empowerment that is the root? Therefore, all who desire liberation should strive for empowerment with great diligence. Therefore, in order to fulfill the intention of Yongdzin Protector, I, by the power of the Protector himself, have spoken this flawless explanation of the empowerment ritual as it is. May this virtue cause all beings pervading the sky to enter the teachings of Buddha Padmasambhava, practice pure samaya, enjoy the nectar of ripening and liberation, and quickly attain the state of the immortal victorious ones! Thus, this "Empowerment Ritual of the Gathering of All Jewels—The Root of Accomplishment: A Clear Mirror of the Guru's Intention" was, while residing on the throne of the holy Barawa, the tree of the glorious Upper Drukpa Kagyu lineage, his excellent disciple Mangyul Kyirong Dzamling Lama Ogyen Ngawang Yeshe Palzangpo recorded my oral teachings, which were then corrected and well established. Rigdzin Tsewang Norbu Drodul Dorje Sempa Tsal, seeing that this Dharma is very important and beneficial for those who wish to practice it, newly wrote it in the Fire Monkey year within the twelfth cycle.

Completed near the twenty-third of the Victorious Month, in the midst of the black and white Klo-lam at the foot of the hidden sacred place Pema Kö (Lotus Adornment). Placed on top of the Everlasting Precious Stupa, the scribe is Gelong Sherab Tenzin. May this also, for those who enter this Dharma, manifest the fruit of liberation, become nourishment for maturation, and may the two benefits be spontaneously accomplished. Good! The empowerment of "Union of All Jewels" arranged for reading, Guru's Clear Intention. Tsewang Norbu.
