Like a reflection appearing in a mirror, non-duality is self-liberated. In the post-meditation period, contemplate the appearance of objects as illusory, existing only as subtle phenomena. The scriptures state that this is the path of meditation. Thereafter, by cultivating diligence, maintaining continuity, and engaging in practice, the cycle of samsara and nirvana, birth and cessation, are realized as non-dual, exhausting the limits of expression. With no object of meditation or meditator, one's own mind becomes manifest, thereby purifying the obscurations of knowledge. All phenomena arise as one's own mind, and the primordial awareness is instantly realized, which the scriptures state is the ultimate path. Having practiced in this way, if the higher views are agitated, restrain them; if they are dull or obscured, uplift them; if they are scattered or attached, uproot awareness. Afterward, if confusion is boundless, or if one is bound by attachment to the aforementioned views, or if mental afflictions arise, causing one to abandon the desire to look, or if one desires to pursue other things, and obstacles arise, then recite the fierce ཕཊཿ(Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, Shattering), and thereafter look at the face of one's own primordial nature, blending space and awareness. Thus, whenever obstacles arise, recite ཕཊཿ(Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, Shattering), and practice as before. To enhance, also uproot awareness on top of whatever arises, and leave it utterly naked in the present, cutting through attachment. A worthy disciple who has little attachment to the appearances of this life, who perceives the lama as a Buddha, who is diligent and possesses wisdom, who has good karma from the past, who is devoted to the view of Great Perfection Trekchö, who can contain emptiness in their mind, and who is broad-minded and has a stable foundation, To them, the Great Perfection, the ground of Trekchö, primordial purity, and the Great Seal are forcibly introduced, which is also called the root of all empowerments—the empowerment of the power of awareness. It is also called the empowerment of the lama transferring the blessing of their mind-stream to the disciple. To introduce this, in a secluded and pleasant place, or a sacred place blessed by the Buddhas of the past, or a high and clear place blessed by the lama, where the scenery is pure and not affected by hail or dust storms, and where the sky is high and wide. At a time when the sky is clear and free of clouds. Both the lama and the disciple, with the seven-point posture, direct their gaze towards the sky. As the lama recites the fierce ཕཊཿ(Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, Shattering), the disciple also recites ཕཊཿ(Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, Shattering) together, and on top of whatever arises, blends space and awareness and abides, and immediately one is introduced to the inexpressible, beyond thought, primordial purity. This is the heart essence.

Then, without distraction, maintain whatever thoughts arise in that state, reciting PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning), mixing the expanse of reality with awareness, and practice as before. Thus, when strong causes such as thoughts of the five poisons of affliction arise, recite PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning) forcefully, abide in the natural state, and practice. At first, it may be shaky and difficult to control, so generate diligence. Vigorously extract awareness, recite PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning), and dispel them by mixing the expanse of reality with awareness. Then, everything that arises will appear in the expanse of self-awareness, and abide in the primordially pure, beyond-mind state, free from clinging to it. Then, effortlessly, everything that arises will appear as the play of the Great Seal beyond mind, and until it becomes a continuous cycle of meditation, day and night, generate diligence and practice. By practicing as before, you will not be afraid of any circumstances. Since there is no object of meditation or meditator, you will realize that samsara and nirvana are inseparable, not envying the Buddhas above, nor fearing the lower realms below. Intolerable compassion will arise for sentient beings who have not realized this meaning. You will be free from the extremes of eternalism and nihilism. In the expanse of such unceasing power of awareness, all the qualities of the ground and path will be perfected simultaneously. This unique instruction for attaining Buddhahood in one lifetime was received from the mouth of the lama with threefold kindness. The benefit of practicing in this way is, as stated in the treasure text of the Great Seal instructions: "Thus, by allowing appearances and existence to play as the Great Seal, the delusion of dualistic grasping is liberated in its own place, and one engages in the intention of the Buddhas, the instruction for attaining the state of Vajradhara in one lifetime." As it is said, by diligently practicing this, it will become supreme, so act accordingly. I, the beggar, Having practiced in one lifetime, Entrust this heart essence, the reliable source of faith, the father's wealth, To heart-like, vow-bound disciples. Consume it in your heart, reveal it to worthy vessels. This supplementary embellishment to the secret instructions on the Great Seal of the Five Families is also because my own vow-bound student, Chugsol Tokden, repeatedly urged me to make the supplementary embellishments to the instruction text available for reference like oral instructions, so without turning away his request, preserving the original treasure text and adorning it with the lama's instructions, this madman, Gaṇa, who acts freely and without attachment, has spoken whatever came to mind.
