A Supplementary Explanation, "Clear at a Glance," to the Instructions on Ratna Thödphreng's Equality Great Seal from the Five Red Instructions of the Heart Practice Yangnying Düpa. A Supplementary Explanation, "Clear at a Glance," to the Instructions on Ratna Thödphreng's Equality Great Seal from the Five Red Instructions of the Heart Practice Yangnying Düpa. A Supplementary Explanation, "Clear at a Glance," to the Instructions on Ratna Thödphreng's Equality Great Seal from the Five Red Instructions of the Heart Practice Yangnying Düpa is complete. All-Equal Dharmakāya, good as the sky! Self-arisen, self-luminous Guru Padmasambhava! Unmoving Equality, Ratna Thödphreng Tsal! To the supreme Guru who appears to tame beings, I bow! Instructions on the Great Seal of Equality. Without erring on the key points of meditation, ask the guru and put them into practice. When meditating on the Great Seal of Tögal and Trekchö of the Completion Stage, first the guru should also, in accordance with the student's mental capacity, gradually guide the beginner, introduce the spontaneously arisen to the intermediate, and introduce it all at once to the superior. In this way, the guru should also be skilled in teaching and gradually guide according to the student's capacity. In a secluded place, the student should sit before the teacher in the seven-point posture. Investigate the origin of the mind, the three places of going: This mind of mine that remembers various things, where does it come from in the beginning? How does it abide now? Where does it go later? Upon investigation, if it abides in clarity and emptiness without coming from here, abiding like this, or going there, then introduce self-appearance as empty. First, meditate on calm abiding with support: Place any object of focus in front, such as a piece of wood or a pebble. Without moving the eyes, investigate the movement of the mind and place it on sale wa Abide there, without scattering elsewhere, abide in clarity and emptiness. If it moves elsewhere, such as to the sound of the ears, investigate the mover and place it on that, and practice as before. On top of whatever arises, without even feeling the body, sit upright, unaware of appearances. Together, the guru and student should utter a forceful PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), destroying the attachment to the state of abiding, and letting it go into whatever arises. If clarity and emptiness are naked, then meditate for short periods and many times. Then, in your own heart, visualize a drop of light the size of a small mirror. In the center of that, focus your mind on a drop the size of a bean, radiating light. For about seven weeks.

Meditate single-mindedly. Then, to hold without attachment means to rest the mind in its own place, completely open, without any support, without thinking anything on top of whatever arises, free from the mind that thinks. At that time, let thoughts flow like dust motes in the air, without clinging to the experience of clarity and emptiness by thinking "is" or "is not," etc. Instead, fix your gaze on the sky in front of you, mix space and awareness, and meditate by keeping awareness in its original purity. By establishing it in this way, it will naturally abide, and all thoughts and wandering memories will naturally subside, and the mind will come to rest in a state of clarity and emptiness, inexpressible and open. This is the abiding place of the mind, and it is the actual basis of meditation. On top of that, the introduction to insight is like ice melting into water, or like waves arising in the ocean. By placing it on top of whatever arises, clarity and emptiness remain clear and inexpressible. As the treasure text, the Vajra Speech, says: Whatever arises is emptiness, saleva The nature is clear and bright, hriggera Then, no matter how thoughts and so on appear, do not analyze or examine them; do not stop them, but meditate in a state of self-knowing, saleva (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:ས་ལེ་བ,,saleva,撒列哇), hriggera (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:ཧྲིག་གེར,,hṛiggera,赫瑞格), naked, open! At that time, from the state of ungrasping saleva (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:ས་ལེ་བ,,saleva,撒列哇), radiance will not cease, and nakedness will appear in a place without objects. This is called the nature of insight. Meditate as it is said, without meditator, meditation, or object of meditation, this clear and empty ungrasping, which is inexpressible. Do not take the state of clear awareness and nakedness as a memory, thinking that this is emptiness. Do not cling to the idea that "this is meditation," but simply rest naturally in a state of self-knowing and ungrasping. By placing awareness on the moment of the beginning, everything that arises remains clear, empty, and ungrasping. This is called the union of calm and insight. Having recognized the nature of abiding in this way, the methods for removing obstacles, increasing merit, and expanding are clearly explained in the oral instructions, the Garland of Essential Points, and the sealed instructions for removing obstacles. In this way, protect whatever arises, free from all extremes of elaboration. Because there is no pride of being a meditator in the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, the error of grasping at reality as permanent is cut off. By realizing that one's own awareness is empty and clear, free from center and edge, and free from clinging, the extreme of nihilism is eliminated. The meaning of
