The nature of suchness is emptiness, its essence is clarity, free from grasping and conceptualization, the nature of being without extremes, naturally resting without fabrication, thus seeing the nature in its own place, it is said that this cuts off both wrong paths. The treasure text, Vajra Speech, says: Such meditation is the flawless intention of the Buddha. Saying it in this way and so on is to cut off wrong paths, the way to cultivate the state of reality, the way to traverse the bhumis and paths, and so on. The treasure text, the Great Seal's guidance text, elaborates on this. Cutting off wrong paths is: To bind that warm experience of bliss with "this is it." If you cling to that, you will stray into the desire realm. Likewise, if you cling to clarity and grasp it, you will stray into the form realm. Therefore, whatever arises—bliss, emptiness, clarity, non-conceptuality—do not cling to it. Without grasping, let it rest naturally in a state beyond mind, free from elaboration. At that time, during the time of equipoise, clear awareness is naked, beyond mind, primordially pure, inexpressible, and utterly clear. During the time of post-meditation, whatever arises is utterly clear on the basis of awareness, without grasping, whatever appears nakedly is utterly clear without recognition. Whatever arises, although it appears, is clear and empty without grasping, this is called conceptual yoga. It is said in the text. Then, for the yogi who is free from straying and error, the way to traverse the five paths is: Because the realization of reality has become manifest, compassion arises as mere illusion for those who have not realized it in this way, and because of faith in cause and effect, gaining warmth in samadhi is the path of accumulation. It is said in the text. Having practiced in this way, knowing that the mind is without object, without limit, beyond mind, and seeing the nature, that is also the path of joining. It is said in the text. Then, the three realms of existence appear without object. The obscurations of the afflictions are purified. Whatever arises appears as the empty appearance of oneself. Like water and waves, like wind moving in the sky, whatever arises is liberated from grasping and beyond mind, and realizing that cause and effect are empty, that is called the path of seeing. It is said in the text. Then, appearance and mind are mixed. Object and appearance are not different, one's own mind becomes manifest, emptiness appears as cause and effect. All phenomena that arise interdependently become inseparable and of one taste, interdependence becomes manifest. Then, by abiding in equanimity, one is separated from objects. All phenomena that arise interdependently are the emptiness of one's own mind.
