A Guide to Guru Yoga: A Rain of Blessings, The Great Drum Arousing the Clouds of Compassion. Padma Gyurme Gyatso Mipham Namgyal Dorje. A Guide to Guru Yoga: A Rain of Blessings, The Great Drum Arousing the Clouds of Compassion. Padma Gyurme Gyatso Mipham Namgyal Dorje. Thus concludes the Guide to Guru Yoga: A Rain of Blessings, The Great Drum Arousing the Clouds of Compassion. Om Svasti. Om, may there be well-being.) The Lord of Great Bliss, unchanging, the actual four Kayas, The embodiment of the compassion of all Buddhas pervading space, The Vajra Master's dance of various manifestations, The lotus feet of the all-pervading Guru are beautiful on my crown. A string of clouds of compassion pervades the entire sky, When gathered, the sound of the great drum of devotion is stirred, Just by proclaiming it, a rain of supreme blessings falls, May this be auspicious as a source of nectar for the fortunate. Here, to clarify the instructions for practicing the profound path of Guru Yoga, there are three stages: preliminaries, main practice, and concluding activities. First, as the son of the Conquerors, Shantideva, said: This leisure is very difficult to find, Having achieved the accomplishment of the purpose of a human being, If one does not accomplish benefit from this, How will one obtain this perfect opportunity again later? As it is said, at this time when we have found such a complete support, rich with the eight freedoms and ten endowments, we must sincerely practice the genuine Dharma from the depths of our hearts. Otherwise, it is extremely difficult to find the support of leisure and endowment. Moreover, because death is impermanent and there is no certainty when we will die, it is important not to postpone or be lazy, but to cultivate great diligence in the sacred Dharma from today onwards. As it is said: The three realms are impermanent, like autumn clouds, The birth and death of beings are like watching a dance, The life of beings is like lightning in the sky, It goes quickly like a waterfall from a steep mountain. As it is said. At the time of death, all wealth, possessions, relatives, and so forth are left behind, and one goes alone, like pulling a hair from butter. At that time, the only thing that follows is karma. When the time comes for the king to depart, Wealth, friends, and relatives do not follow.

Following. Wherever the virtuous ones dwell, wherever they go, Karma follows them like a shadow. Therefore, after contemplating the ways in which good and bad results mature, one must be meticulous in adopting and abandoning in relation to karma and its effects, from the subtlest aspects. Because from this, the fruits of happiness and suffering will mature separately, without being mixed together. How do they mature? Based on the three poisons of attachment, hatred, and ignorance, the three types of non-virtue, great, medium, and small, will lead to the fruits of the three lower realms. And based on the virtue that is in harmony with merit, one will be propelled into the happy realms. At that time, one will experience the suffering of the hot and cold hells, the hunger and thirst of the pretas, the ignorance, muteness, and exploitation of animals, the suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death of humans, the fighting of the asuras, and the suffering of the gods' death, transference, and falling. Until the root of samsara cannot be uprooted from its depths, beings will revolve again and again in the six realms. Driven by the power of desire, existence, and ignorance, Beings in the three forms of humans, gods, and bad destinies, And in the other five realms, revolve unskillfully, Like a potter turning a wheel. The three existences blaze with the suffering of old age and disease, Here the fire of death blazes fiercely, without a protector, Beings are born from existence and are always ignorant, Revolving like a bee trapped in a vase. Therefore, since we cannot now escape the suffering of samsara by our own power, we must take refuge in the Three Jewels, which are capable of saving us from it. As the great accomplished one, Melong, said: In the incomparable Three Jewels, Always serve with body, speech, and mind, Whatever is desired is achieved without deception. So, how does one take refuge? In a secluded place, sit upright on a comfortable cushion, and as mentioned above, first train the mind. In the space in front, visualize the refuge field, the gurus, vidyadharas, and buddhas, all assembled like a dense cloud. In front of them, I and all other sentient beings, from this time until we reach the essence of enlightenment, whether it is prosperity or decline, happiness or suffering, good or bad, our only reliance and hope is you, whatever you do, I accept, thinking this from the depths of our hearts. Namo! (Tibetan) Namo! (Sanskrit Devanagari, नमो,Namo,Homage) Namo! (Sanskrit Romanization, Namo, Homage) Homage! To all the Sugatas, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas of all directions and times! I and all beings as vast as space!
