I prostrate to the venerable Guru, whose body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities are adorned with inconceivable splendor. A virtuous medicinal garden, thoroughly moistened with love, possessing the root of immaculate Samadhi. The petals of discipline are beautiful, the light of realization blazes, manifestly flourishing with the rain of good conduct. Dispelling the sickness of worldly aggregates, attracting the minds of beings, that melodious sound resounds in all ten directions. Extremely rare in the world, the sovereign of the teachings, may the Udumbara flower be victorious! Before the princes of the ten directions, the Protector of the Able One, Like a precious vase filled with the nectar of his teachings. And with the countless supreme disciples who follow you, I prostrate to the Three Jewels of refuge! Thus, the essence of the body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas of the three times, the venerable Guru said: To manifest all the qualities of the supreme and common siddhis of the Great Vehicle Secret Mantra, the mind must remain one-pointedly in Samadhi. For this, relying on a place with perfect and complete favorable conditions, not being disturbed by external circumstances, the mind remains one-pointedly in Samadhi. Therefore, a yogi should practice single-mindedly in a secluded monastery, abundant in water and trees, with plentiful sustenance, where there is no traffic of people during the day, and no fear of enemies seeking opportunities or causing fear at night. This is the place of the lowest yogi. Practicing in such a place for a hundred days is less powerful than practicing for one day in a secluded mountain hermitage far from villages, or on a mountaintop, or at the confluence of rivers, or in a cave, or in an empty valley. Furthermore, practicing there for a hundred days is less powerful than practicing for one day in a forest. The teacher Shantideva also said: In the forest, deer, birds, and trees do not speak meaningless words. The Lord also said: In a secluded forest, Meeting by chance and relying on freedom, I pray to always abide. Therefore, it is the place of an intermediate yogi. Moreover, practicing there for a hundred days is less powerful than practicing for one day in a barren snow mountain like the great Jetsun Milarepa. Practicing in such a place for a hundred days is less powerful than practicing in the twenty-four sacred places such as Oddiyana, or in other terrifying charnel grounds."

In places where there are many non-humans, jackals, and new and old corpses, etc., because it is a place blessed by heroes and dakinis, a place where non-conceptualization arises, meditating there for one night has great power or merit, and it is the best place for yogis. In short, in those perfect places, the five senses should not be scattered into the five objects, and the mind should not be distracted, but should meditate in samadhi. That is, in this way, the deity of the generation stage, or the complete stage with signs, or the many differences of the signless, if they flash, sometimes abide in equanimity, and sometimes do not abide in equanimity, then the merits of samadhi will not arise. So what should one meditate on? Meditate on the precious heart essence instructions, the Dharma King's wish-fulfilling jewel, the five-fold precious jewel without error. Other practices are like a satiated bird, not something to be practiced constantly, so always abide in these five dharmas. In this way, the senses do not scatter into objects, do not cling, cut off the three poisons, and merits will arise. If it is not like this, and the senses scatter outward into objects, all faults will arise. When the eye sense looks outward at form, it will give rise to attachment to beauty. The karmic result of that mind will lead to rebirth as a hungry ghost, experiencing immeasurable suffering such as hunger and thirst. Hatred arises towards the unbeautiful. The karmic result of that mind will lead to rebirth in hell, experiencing immeasurable suffering such as boiling and burning. Ignorance arises towards the mediocre. The karmic result of that mind will lead to rebirth as an animal, experiencing immeasurable suffering such as being used. Apart from these, there is nothing great to see by looking outward. Similarly, when the ear sense scatters into sound, it will be attached to praise, hate slander, and ignorance arises towards the mediocre, accumulating the karma of the three poisons. The nose sense scatters into smell, the tongue sense scatters into taste, the body sense scatters into touch, and all things such as dharmas in the realm of the mind sense are the same principle. Just like this, attachment, hatred, and ignorance, etc.
