It is to dispel ignorance about it. These inner and outer fruits are to dispel the doubt that some creators, such as Ishvara, first used their minds to create them. The second is to dispel ignorance about one's own nature in the present. Because it arises from a permanent cause such as Ishvara, it also avoids clinging to one's own nature as permanent, not arising and ceasing in an instant. Because a fruit that arises from impermanent causes and conditions has no chance of becoming permanent. The third is to dispel ignorance about the future. It is to dispel the saying that from dissimilar causes such as animal sacrifices, dissimilar fruits such as the happiness of the heavenly realms will arise in the future. Because the fruit arises in accordance with the cause. Because from dissimilar causes, dissimilar fruits do not arise. In this way, those outsiders do not accept dependent origination, because they accept a creator and a permanent cause, and some say there is no cause. All these insiders speak of dependent origination, otherwise they would become outsiders, because they do not accept the profound essence of the Tathagata's teachings. As the teacher Nagarjuna said: 'This dependent origination is the Victorious One's, the most profound treasure in the treasury of speech.' Just as he said. Even so, not all proponents of philosophical systems fully understand the meaning of dependent origination as it is. Because there are two types of dependent origination: dependent origination that distinguishes the nature of things, and dependent origination that distinguishes between pleasant and unpleasant beings. The first is the way in which all inner and outer things arise from what causes and conditions. The second is the way in which the beings of the six inner sense bases enter the five realms of samsara from what causes and conditions. Among them, the outsiders, because they are ignorant of the first type of dependent origination, therefore say that there is no cause and that dissimilar things are the cause. Because they are ignorant of the second, they cling to a self such as an enjoyer.

It is also like that. The Vaibhashikas and Sautrantikas are ignorant of the first type of dependent origination because they accept that external objects are made of atoms and that the internal aggregates also arise from the causes of previous actions, and so on. They also accept the operation of the twelve links, such as actions arising from ignorance. Although they are not ignorant of the second type of dependent origination, the Vaibhashikas, for example, also have distorted understandings, such as placing all twelve links in the stages of the five aggregates of the three times. Therefore, they do not understand it correctly in all aspects. Among these, knowing the first type of dependent origination eliminates the obscuration of knowledge. Understanding the nature of the second type eliminates the obscuration of afflictions, because these two types of dependent origination are distinguished in order by the selflessness of phenomena and persons. Therefore, here, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers emphasize the second type of dependent origination, while the Mahayanists emphasize the first. Among them, there are two types of Mahayanists: the Mind-Only school and the No-Self-Nature school. The Mind-Only school's first type of dependent origination, that is, how all phenomena arise from the all-seed storehouse consciousness, has already been explained in detail. The second type of dependent origination, that is, the operation of the twelve links such as ignorance, will be explained in detail in the treatise itself. The common characteristics of both, such as arising from immutable causes and conditions, have also been explained. According to the view of the No-Self-Nature school, the Mind-Only school also falls into a distorted understanding of the meaning of dependent origination, because they abandon the conventional truths of the causes and conditions of appearances and accept that they arise from the cause of the very non-apparent storehouse consciousness. According to their view, the meaning of dependent origination is the complete abandonment of arising from self, other, both, and no cause, and is like an illusion.

Just as smoke arises from the flame of a butter lamp, the cause and effect emanated by the creator of conceptual proliferation is termed dependent origination. As it is said in the Upper Madhyamaka: 'Suffering is made by oneself, made by others, or made by both. The nihilists contemplate it without cause, but you say it arises dependently.' As it is said. This profoundly subtle dependent origination, I will explain separately to those who are suitable vessels and seek the truth. Here, because it is not the occasion, I will not elaborate. According to those who speak of only consciousness, the way of dependent origination of those who speak of no self-nature is not correct, because they slander that the results arise from causes and conditions that are different from themselves. Secondly, the division of the limbs is: the twelve limbs, and so on. Among them, ignorance is: that by the power of which sentient beings are deluded about the faults of samsara and the benefits of nirvana, and is something that is contrary to knowledge and wisdom. Then, is it to be abandoned by seeing or by meditation? Regarding this, in the Don Sang Nampar Shepa it says: 'Because this is what throws one into rebirth,' and in the Explanation of the Sutra of Dependent Origination it says: 'Seeing the truth, there is no throwing.' Therefore, although it is said that ignorance is to be abandoned by seeing, I do not see it well. If it is asserted in this way, then all the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the desire realm are only non-virtuous. Therefore, the merit accumulated in the desire realm and the unwavering formations would become non-virtuous, because they arise from the ignorance to be abandoned by seeing in the desire realm, just like non-meritorious actions. Therefore, the ignorance in this context is the general cause of all formations, so it is to be abandoned by meditation. That is to say, it is said to be the unmixed ignorance that arises in the sphere of the afflicted mind (manas), but not those that arise in the sphere of consciousness, because the latter does not follow merit and unwavering formations. If it is afflicted,
