will not arise, because of being accustomed to the meaning of being obstructed by valid cognition, it is impossible for the realization of that very nature to arise from this. Even if one is not confused about the nature of reality, it becomes direct perception, so the aforementioned faults still remain. Therefore, these decisional aspects are correct wisdom led by the power of valid cognition based on reasons such as being separate from one and many, transformed into the object of investigation, and through the power of meditation, they have a slight clarity towards emptiness. Although appearing clear, they are not free from conceptualization, they only weaken the seeds of what is to be abandoned by seeing, but do not uproot them. The clear appearance depends on the wisdom of hearing and thinking, and is only free from coarse conceptualizations, but it is not a direct manifestation of the object as it is, so it will not become direct perception. Secondly, there are two parts: a brief explanation and a detailed explanation. The first of these has three parts, the first of which is: not showing the path of definitive limbs of determination under instruction, explaining suffering. The reason for this is that the initial practitioner dwells on the path of accumulation, as mentioned above, and having received instruction, practices its meaning properly, so the definitive limb of determining the result arises. The second is the root: titled "Superior." This has three aspects: the basis of superiority, the quality of superiority, and from what it is superior. The first is: the individual who relies on it is the Bodhisattva himself, showing the other paths of seeing, so there are the heat stage of saving suffering, etc., as well as the peak stage, the forbearance stage, and the supreme dharma stage. What is their nature? The nature of the four, heat, etc., in order, is the initial basis of the conceptualization of the grasper and the grasped, which will be explained below. The difference is: each one also arises in sequence, or, based on the difference of the three types of instruction, dull, medium, and sharp, they are divided into three types: small, medium, and large. The second is: the object to be completely cut off, and the manner in which it is completely cut off, and the cause of the special result, and the upholding that abandons unfavorable conditions and accomplishes favorable conditions, that is, with four superiorities. The third is: like the Hearers and Solitary Realizers.

These are all the paths of practice, including the great and small. In the "Sunlight Sutra," it should be explained that there are four distinctions from the Hearers and others, namely: the distinction of the object of focus, the distinction of the aspect, the distinction of the cause, and the distinction of the way of holding. There are four characteristics, and in terms of avoiding repetition, there are four distinctions, and also including the distinction of small and medium, so six characteristics are explained. In the "Great Commentary," five characteristics are explained, including the distinction of small and medium. Here, the small and medium, etc., are made the basis of distinction, so five characteristics including distinctions are explained. Third, in the explanation, there are two parts: the main text and the incidental explanation of the various ways in which Bodhisattvas focus on the path of practice. The first part has two parts: the excellence and the reason for it. The first part is: the excellence, as it is said. On this, like the root, there are three parts. The first part is: the four that are in accordance with the decisive aspect of the Bodhisattvas. On this, there are four: cause, nature, result, and difference. The first is: it arises from the complete maturation of the roots of virtue, which are the nature of the five faculties such as faith, which are included in accordance with the aspect of liberation, so it is below that. What is the virtue that is in accordance with the aspect of liberation? It is the sutras that understand and follow reality, and through hearing and so on, the causes such as thought mature, and the perfection of the path of accumulation is obtained. The second is: it arises from worldly meditation, because it is with conceptualization, and because there is clarity in the object of habituation. The former distinguishes the noble path, and the latter distinguishes the aspect of liberation, so it is the nature of hearing and thinking. The former is: it is in accordance with the arising of the path of seeing that realizes the nature of the four truths. This distinguishes it from the meditation arising from aspiration and attention, such as meditating on ugliness. The fourth is divided into two parts: nature and stages. The first part is: on the nature of the formless, the first clear appearance of meditation is obtained, the root of virtue called "becoming warm," and below that, the medium clear appearance is obtained, called "becoming the peak," and below that, the clear appearance is completely perfected on the formless, called "becoming forbearance," and below that, the clear appearance is completely perfected on the non-grasping.
