The dharma of the desire realm is the place of desire. Being without attachment to desire, and not being without attachment to the first dhyana, is called the place of the first dhyana. Likewise, being without attachment to nothingness, and not being without attachment to the peak of existence, is called the place of the peak of existence. The proximity to the higher realms also belongs to the higher realms because of being free from attachment to the lower realms. Thus, the twelve links of dependent origination mentioned above are the cause and effect of samsara. Secondly, the dependent origination of purification is that with the cessation of ignorance, actions cease, and so on, until with the cessation of birth, aging and death cease, which is the cause and effect of nirvana.
