It is spoken as seen. This method described above is that I, Chandrakirti, have collected the most important meanings from Nagarjuna's treatises such as the Mulamadhyamakakarika, as well as the oral instructions of the earlier masters transmitted from Nagarjuna, and have spoken them as they are. I have not composed them myself. Secondly, to show the uniqueness of the treatise: Just as this Dharma is not found in other treatises, this method is also not found in others, the wise should know. Just as the Dharma of emptiness is not correctly explained in other Madhyamaka treatises, the views expounded in this treatise with refutations are also not found in other treatises that follow Nagarjuna's treatises, the wise who rely on meaning should know. The meaning is this: Nagarjuna's unique method is only explained by me in this treatise, and even the disciples of the scholars have not fully and correctly clarified the views of the scholars. Secondly, why it was composed: Because those who do not understand the intention of the scholar and are afraid of merely hearing the words, abandon this Dharma that shows the profound truth of dependent origination that transcends the world, therefore, in order to correctly explain the true meaning of the Madhyamaka treatises, this treatise was written. Nagarjuna's ocean of wisdom is frightening because of its extremely vast color, and beings have abandoned all the good ways, therefore, the mouth composed of chapters, with the water of the blooming Kumuda flower, now Chandrakirti will completely fill them. The ocean of wisdom of the noble Nagarjuna is immeasurable, and because its extremely vast color is like extreme darkness, they are very afraid of merely hearing the words of unbornness and emptiness, etc. The previous treatise authors Asanga and Vasubandhu, etc., abandoned all the good ways of Nagarjuna, therefore, the chapters arising from the ocean of wisdom of Nagarjuna

Like white lotus flowers such as wisdom just beginning to bloom, the rays of the moon-like fame's wisdom open them, and the water of the well-spoken two truths within them possesses eight qualities. Now, the moon-like fame fulfills the manifest desires of those fortunate beings who are to be tamed. If the authors of treatises such as the steadfast Asanga, Vasubandhu, Dignāga, and Dharmapāla have already appeared, have they abandoned this Madhyamaka treatise that profoundly and unerringly explains dependent origination, fearing even hearing its mere words? Thus it is said. Furthermore, how is this to be realized? That itself has been explained: This profound and frightening dharma is certainly realized by beings through the power of prior habituation. Although this is widely heard, others cannot comprehend it. Therefore, upon seeing those self-proclaimed systems fabricated by their own minds, one should abandon the joy of other systems besides this system of Nāgārjuna among all the systems. Those who lack fortune, upon merely hearing the name of the profound reality of dependent origination previously explained, will be frightened and their hair will stand on end. The Hundred Verses says: 'From the name of this dharma alone, even those who are not virtuous are born with fear. Who is there who has the power not to cause fear in others?' As it is said. Therefore, this frightening thing is certainly realized by beings who possess the seed of prior habituation with emptiness, through the power of the cause. Although this profound dharma is widely heard, others, teachers who lack a particular fondness for emptiness, cannot comprehend it. Therefore, those who desire liberation should abandon the joy of other systems besides this system of Nāgārjuna. How should they abandon it? Just as the systems of self-grasping tirthikas should be abandoned by those who desire liberation. Why should they abandon it? Because those systems are merely fabricated by the minds of the teachers who speak of entities, and they are outside the intention of the Sugata. Third, the virtue of what has been done
