Explanation of Chapter Seven. Explanation of Chapter Seven. Third, regarding the instruction on how to abandon karma, there are three points: the faults of the fruit of samsara, the way to abandon from the cause, and the necessity of abandoning karma. The first point: the general faults of samsara, and in particular, refuting attachment to the happy realms, which are divided into two points. The first point is also divided into two points: the main text, and the exhortation to strive to exhaust existence. The first point: in order to abandon from the cause, it is explained to generate weariness towards it by revealing the faults of the fruit of samsara. Samsara is a great ocean of suffering, pervading all directions, arising from beginningless time. It is filled with snakes of ignorance and pride, etc. It is stirred by the evil waters of the sixty-two views. There are many whirlpools of birth and death. The tributaries of blood, tears, and milk increase. The waves of aging, sickness, and death crash. Lamentations and wails are uttered, suffering and discomfort, and it is disturbed by countless chaotic fish, turtles, and fish-eaters, etc. This has no shore or bottom, and does not exist in any way. Children, you individual beings, why would you not be afraid, having been drowning in this great ocean of suffering since beginningless time? Even drowning in an ocean where the bottom and the far shore are invisible, great fear arises from the fear of losing one's life. Therefore, one should be even more afraid and disgusted with drowning in the endless ocean of suffering. If samsara has so many faults, but those who are proud of youth, etc., do not feel fear, it is because youth, etc., do not last, so one should not be proud of them. For example, in this life, youth appears after old age, and after death it appears again, and after appearing it appears again after old age, cut off by death, and then appears again. Therefore, when children are in their youth, they presume that they will always be in that state, but in reality, in this world, youth, old age, and death seem to be racing with me, saying, "I am ahead of you." Because these states are not permanent, one should not be proud of youth, etc. If worldly people

It is like running a race at a slow pace, and although one goes to another world, if one says that because it is one's nature, one is not afraid, then in samsara, you child, by your own will alone, do not have the power to be reborn in other good realms such as gods and humans, because one is reborn according to the pull of karma. Since one is under the control of karma and afflictions, to go to another world without fear is extremely ignorant, and who else with wisdom would do so? Therefore, one should recognize that one is under the control of karma and afflictions, and does not know where one will be reborn, and thus be weary of samsara day and night. Secondly, if samsara has such great faults, but one is deluded by the happiness of this life, so one cannot cut off rebirth in this life, but strives for future rebirth, then future rebirth is not the last, and the past also has no beginning. All the lives of the past are only your individual selves. Just as you have gone through all the past ages without experiencing the cessation of afflictions, so the present life will not change, so you should strive to exhaust samsara. As it is said in the Ornament of the Tree Sutra: 'Your desires are exhausted by meaninglessness, whatever you remember of the end of the body's past, today with the asceticism and vows of seeking enlightenment, cut off desires with this asceticism.' Just like that. So, is samsara finite? Or is it infinite? If it is the former, then one will be liberated without effort; if it is the latter, then one cannot be liberated even with effort. If it is both, then because samsara has been cut off, effort is meaningless. This cannot be generalized, if the causes and conditions of wisdom and realization are complete, then there is an end; if they are not complete, then there is no end. And causes and conditions are not absolutely impossible to occur, nor are they certain to occur. For example, the causes and conditions for the arising of wisdom and realization, the listener abides in leisure and endowment, what is heard is the teaching that reveals suchness, the speaker is the Tathagata, these are extremely rare to appear. The appearance of the Tathagata in the world is as rare as the udumbara flower, and the other two also depend on the appearance of the Buddha. Therefore, the cause of the arising of wisdom
