Explanation of Chapter Three. Explanation of Chapter Three. Third, showing the means of abandoning the perverted view of purity, which has two parts: actually meditating on the impurity of the body, and summarizing the general meaning. The first has two parts: refuting the attachment to the purity of a woman's body, and refuting the attachment to the purity of the body in general. The first has three parts: generally refuting attachment to women as objects, showing the faults of women as objects, and showing the faults of attachment to objects. The first has three parts: generally refuting attachment to women as objects, specifically refuting attachment to beauty, and showing the faults of women. First, assuming that conditioned phenomena are of the nature of suffering, even so, being satisfied with the taste of enjoying desirable objects will bring happiness. Therefore, in the first stage of life, one closely enjoys objects, in the middle stage, one accumulates wealth, and in the end, one practices Dharma. If objects had a slight limit, and one could obtain their exhaustion in the first stage of life and have happiness, then even if one enjoys for a very long time, there is no end or limit to the objects of desire. Because children have enjoyed objects since beginningless time, yet their craving for objects has not ceased. Therefore, just as a bad doctor does not know the characteristics of a disease, and strives to exhaust the disease but cannot eradicate it, so that the treatment of the body becomes meaningless, so too, your labor of relying on objects in order to obtain the exhaustion of objects will become fruitless. If, just as being satisfied with water eliminates thirst, being satisfied with desire would eliminate craving, then enjoying desire would not stop the craving of desire. Thus, for some people who rely on and become accustomed to eating inferior soil, their craving for soil does not cease, and it increases more and more. Similarly, for people who are constantly enjoying objects of desire, their hope for desire also increases more and more and does not cease. Because enjoying desire nourishes the seeds of the same kind, thereby causing desire to grow stronger. Therefore, how can there be satisfaction for a person who is distracted by the powerful desire that increases moment by moment? Second, assuming that the above brief explanation can prevent attachment to ordinary women, but one would be attached to extremely beautiful women
