Even though both kinds of vomiting are equally painful, when one sees some rich people vomiting into golden vessels, while maids vomit into earthen vessels, if one thinks that they are happy because they possess perfect power, then, like ignorant children, they only think of curing the suffering of heat and cold as happiness. If it is said that there is happiness because the mind of happiness arises when carrying a burden on the shoulder and shifting it from one side to the other, then there is no happiness in that either. Like this, when the right side has carried the burden for a long time, and the great suffering increases, causing weariness, one shifts it to the left. And then, at first, a small suffering is produced, and when the previous suffering has greatly increased and the increase stops, then the mind of happiness arises. But where is the happiness in producing a small suffering at first? Moreover, where is the happiness in the cessation of great suffering? Because, upon detailed analysis, there is not even a little happiness, therefore, the Able One (Shakyamuni Buddha) said: When the son of Katyayana (Katyayana, a disciple of the Buddha) is born, only suffering arises; and when it ceases, only suffering ceases. Birth and destruction are suffering. This is what I think. If it is said that suffering exists by its very nature, but it is obscured by a great deal of happiness and cannot be seen. If each individual ordinary person thinks that suffering exists by its very nature, but it is covered by happiness and cannot be seen, then, if there is not even a little happiness that can obscure suffering, how can suffering be obscured and not be seen? How happiness does not exist has already been explained. If the body is painful by its very nature, then what is the use of pointing it out? It is like not needing to point out that "the sun is hot." Although it is the nature of suffering, because it is obscured by ignorance, children do not understand its nature, so it is necessary to point out to each individual ordinary person: Your body has the nature of suffering, but you are not free from attachment to it. Because its nature is obscured by ignorance like other things and cannot be seen, therefore, ignorance is the most excellent of all obscurations. The Thus-Gone Ones (Buddhas) said that this is the obscuration of ignorance, the lowest of all obscurations. Secondly, the body is impermanent.

If there is happiness, it will inevitably be harmed by impermanence, because it causes weariness. Whatever has the harm of the characteristic of causing weariness is not happiness. Therefore, whatever is impermanent is called suffering. For example, everything that falls into the source of salt becomes salty. Similarly, all impermanent things are suffering, so all conditioned things are of the nature of suffering. Second, to show the necessity of detailed explanation: Thus, this detailed explanation, as stated in the sutra: "Birth is suffering, aging is suffering, separation from loved ones is suffering, encountering the unloved is suffering, and not finding what one desires is also suffering. In short, the five aggregates of grasping are suffering." By elaborating on what was said, the suffering of all three realms, such as birth and death, causes sentient beings to become disgusted with the assembly of the prison of samsara. In order to subdue the beings who are immersed in it, with great compassion as the cause, with bodhicitta and non-dual wisdom, they are thoroughly placed. Because of such a necessity, it is said: "Impermanence will inevitably be harmed, whatever is harmed is not happiness, therefore, whatever is impermanent, all will be called suffering." That's all. Those foolish children whose eyes of wisdom are obscured by the darkness of ignorance, taking their own inverted discriminations as the standard, merely temporarily eliminating suffering is called happiness, which is not to be denied here, because it would become a slander of the conventional. If happiness and suffering are not established as substances and are equally present only in name, then how can the difference between inverted and non-inverted be established? Although this is the case, because the body is established as the nature of suffering by the reasoning of engaging in the correct conventional as stated in the scriptures, and because it harms the attachment to happiness, therefore, relative to the correct conventional, suffering is not inverted, and happiness is inverted. The other three non-inversions should also be understood in the same way, that is, from the beginningless time that has entered the world.

Following conventional terminology, considering what is inverted as valid, clinging to what is permanent as constant, clinging to the bodies of men and women, which are full of color and shape, as pure, and clinging to the person who is nominally designated based on the aggregates as self—these are established as false conventional truths. However, because these can be harmed by reasoning that enters into the true conventional, they are established as inverted relative to the true conventional. The three, such as impermanence, are established as non-inverted. In reality, the four, such as impermanence, are also inverted, because in emptiness, there is no way to examine anything such as permanence and impermanence. As it is said in the Root Verses on the Middle Way: "If it is said that impermanence is permanence, such clinging is inverted; how is it that clinging to impermanence in emptiness is not inverted?" As it is said. From the Four Hundred Verses on Yoga Practice, it is a commentary on the second chapter, which explains the means of abandoning the clinging to happiness. Explanation of Chapter Two.
