And so on, speaking the Dharma while contemplating in various ways, and also telling one's own students, "Investigate this Dharma, but do not investigate that Dharma," or saying, "This meaning is suitable for this person, but not suitable for that person," these are all acts of abandoning the Dharma. Because they arbitrarily distinguish between good and bad aspects of the Dharma, and disparage it without discrimination. Furthermore, some people say this: flattering and praising Brahmins and householders, if they merely recite a single verse of the Tathagata's teachings, saying, "You have spoken well the words of the Tathagata's teachings, you have understood the meaning well," rejoicing and praising even a fragment of what they have said, this action will also lead to abandoning the Dharma. What is the purpose of doing this? It is for the sake of gain and respect, and for the sake of maintaining the household from which gain can be obtained, not for the sake of protecting the Dharma. What is the cause? It is because of attachment and longing for the lineage of Brahmins and the power of kings and others. Why does speaking in this way lead to abandoning the Dharma? Because the Dharma taught by the Tathagata is profound, subtle, and difficult to fathom. It is only within the realm of the wise and intelligent, how could it be within the realm of Brahmins and householders who have not studied well? Therefore, saying that they also understand and speak well the Tathagata's teachings is like saying that the Tathagata's teachings are also within the realm of the dull-witted, which is to slander the profound and unfathomable Dharma. What will be the result of such actions of abandoning the Dharma? It is as the scriptures say, it will lead to falling into the great evil realms, and so on. In short, the above-mentioned principles are a good explanation of this section of the sutra. Just as with the light of a lamp and a jewel, those with eyes can see clear images; similarly, relying on the sun of the Buddha's teachings, the wise strive to understand it. If there were no movement of the sun and moon in the sky, the earth would be plunged into darkness; without the light of the Buddha's teachings, beings would also fall into the same state. Therefore, those who wish for their own benefit and cherish others should cherish the Buddha's teachings and those who uphold them.

Homage and the like. Like trying to measure the edge of mountains and oceans with frog swimming. Thus, thus, are the words of the Buddha. Although the minds of children cannot fathom it. Yet, relying on faith, scripture, and reason. Based on this, may the wise discern. By the virtue of this composition, may all beings. Abandon the extremes of existence and quiescence. Quickly attain the state of non-abiding Nirvana. May they swiftly attain the state of omniscient ones. This is a fragment of the commentary on the condensed Sutra of the Noble Arrayed Weave. It was composed by the Dharma-speaking monk, Youthful Intellect, at the glorious Sakya Monastery, urged by the command of the lord of the precious teachings, the glorious Lama Kunga Tashi Gyaltsen Palsangpo. May it be virtuous! May it be auspicious! Commentary on the Arrayed Weave Sutra.
