By cultivating the ground, the continuum matures. The four are like the wheels of a chariot, hence called wheels. Just as a chariot with well-functioning wheels can easily reach its destination, similarly, the path endowed with these conditions can also easily reach liberation. Therefore, since you possess these four great wheels, you have all the necessary causes and conditions for practicing the path, so you should strive to practice the path. To show that relying on a noble person is essential for generating the noble path: "Relying on a virtuous friend is the beginning of pure conduct. The Thus-Gone One has said it is completely fulfilling. One should rely on a noble person, and by relying on the Victorious One, many have attained peace." Thus it is said. When practicing the path, one should first rely on a virtuous friend, for the Teacher has said that this itself is the cause of perfect pure conduct. As it is said in the Sutra: "Ananda, just as a virtuous friend and a virtuous companion are the complete pure conduct. Why is that? Ananda, those subject to birth are completely liberated from birth by relying on a virtuous friend." Because that is so, one should always rely on a noble person, just as by relying on the Victorious One, many sentient beings have attained peace. Here, pure conduct is the path to liberation, because it is practiced for the sake of the stainless Nirvana, having abandoned all the faults of existence. What are the characteristics of a noble person? As stated in the Ornament: "A spiritual friend is disciplined, peaceful, and utterly pacified, surpassing in qualities, diligent, rich in scripture, realized of suchness, eloquent, compassionate, and relies on abandoning discouragement." As it is said, abiding in the three precious trainings, rich in the scriptures of the three baskets, realizing the suchness of reality, and skilled in expressing it accordingly, loving students, and without weariness in teaching instructions and subsequent instructions. To show that one should also strive to obtain the special support that separates from the unfavorable conditions for practicing the path to liberation: Holding wrong views, and being born as an animal, and being in the state of a hungry ghost, and being born in hell.

And, without the Buddha's teachings and in the borderlands, being born as barbarians and the foolish and mute, the long-lived gods and anywhere else, are called the eight faults of no leisure. Having obtained leisure, free from these, strive to prevent rebirth. Thus it is said. If reborn as animals and hungry ghosts and, in hell, that is, the three lower realms, without the Buddha's teachings, that is, being born in a world where no Buddha has appeared, even if one has appeared, being born as a barbarian in a borderland where one cannot hear his voice, even if it is the central region, being foolish and mute, and holding wrong views that slander cause and effect and liberation and its path, that is, the four types of humans, being born as a non-conscious being, a long-lived god, and any of the eight, are called no leisure, because there is no opportunity to practice liberation. King, you, free from those eight faults, having obtained a special support for practicing liberation, in order to make it meaningful, strive to practice the path in order to prevent rebirth. Thus it is said. In general, advice to do good.
