Furthermore, since it does not possess the characteristics of a real entity, there is no arising, just like a donkey's horn. Cessation does not have destruction, because there is no basis for it, so destruction is unreasonable. Even without cessation, there is no destruction, because it is inconsistent with the characteristics of a real entity. How can there be destruction for something that does not exist? Therefore, there is no arising and no destruction. If it is said that there is arising and destruction because the object, which is the basis of these, exists, then if the object exists, the two phenomena that depend on it, arising and destruction, would exist. However, according to the reasoning that has been explained and will be explained, the object does not exist. There is no arising and destruction. Because there is no basis, dependence is not established, so it should be understood. Why does the object not exist? Because there is no arising and destruction, the object does not exist. The object exists only if there is arising and destruction, so it should be understood. Arising and destruction are the characteristics of the object, and these have already been refuted. When refuted, the characteristics of the object, arising and destruction, do not exist, so the object does not exist. Third, examining emptiness and non-emptiness and refuting: Furthermore, are arising and destruction considered in relation to whether the object is empty or non-empty? In this regard, first of all, for emptiness, arising and destruction are not reasonable. Because there is no basis, arising and destruction are not reasonable for emptiness, just like a drawing in the sky. Similarly, for non-emptiness, arising and destruction are also not reasonable. Non-emptiness is because it exists by its own nature, so arising and destruction are not reasonable. Fourth, examining one and different and refuting: Furthermore, if arising and destruction exist, are they one or different? Arising and destruction, being one is not reasonable. Arising and destruction, like light and darkness, are not reasonable to be one because they contradict each other. Arising and destruction, being different is also not reasonable. Arising and destruction being different is also not reasonable, because one has not seen destruction separate from arising or arising separate from destruction, so the two are not confused with each other. Second, eliminating contradictions with what is seen, divided into reality and sound.

Concerning the two explanations of refuting and establishing tenets. The first is: If someone thinks, what is the use of examining these things in detail? Because arising and ceasing are seen even by ordinary cowherds, while non-existent things, like the son of a barren woman, are not seen. If that is the case, if you think that arising and ceasing are seen, then arising and ceasing are seen by ignorance. If you think that arising and ceasing exist because they are seen even by ordinary cowherds, then this is uncertain. Because whatever is seen by worldly people is not necessarily existent. For example, ordinary cowherds also see non-existent cities of gandharvas, illusions, dreams, mirages, and so on, as well as flies on hair, long-beaked insects, and so on. Similarly, arising and ceasing are also seen by those whose minds' eyes are blinded by the darkness of unknowing ignorance, even though they do not exist. However, those noble ones who have removed the cataract of ignorance with the eye medicine of emptiness, in the subsequent attainment, when they understand things to be like illusions, see that arising and ceasing are empty of inherent existence. The second is: If someone asks, how is it certain that arising and ceasing are actually seen only by ignorance? This is ascertained through reasoning. For example, if there is some object that has the characteristic of arising, then it arises either from an object or from a non-object. Similarly, if there is some non-object that has the characteristic of ceasing, then it also arises either from an object or from a non-object. Neither of these two is reasonable. An object does not arise from an object, nor does an object arise from a non-object. A non-object does not arise from a non-object, nor does a non-object arise from an object. An object with the characteristic of arising does not arise from an object, because this would entail that the cause and effect are simultaneous, and because it is meaningless for something that has already arisen to arise again. An object also does not arise from a non-object, because a non-object is cessation, and it is contradictory to an object. A non-object does not arise from a non-object,
