Regarding "whether it is the grasping of consciousness," there are two types of grasping: one is grasping at the mere experience of awareness, and the other is grasping at the object being grasped. Of these two, the former is grasping that fits the definition, while the latter is merely a child's conjecture and does not fit the definition. Therefore, eye consciousness and so on are the nature of other-powered (paratantra), not the completely imputed (parikalpita). Even though ordinary beings experience the other-powered in the manner of self-awareness, they cannot derive a definite conclusion from the cessation of the other-powered, which appears as the duality of grasper and grasped as if they were non-existent. Therefore, it is not the realm of ordinary beings, but other pure worldly wisdom can derive certainty from the power of experience in it, so it is established as the realm of the subsequent attainment of noble ones. There is no absolute certainty in the distinction between true and false perfected nature (pariniṣpanna). Different teachers have different views. The brothers Asanga clearly state that the other-powered is emptiness, the completely imputed is unconditioned, and the immutable is the perfected nature. Dignāga, Dharmakīrti, and their followers Śāntarakṣita and Śāntipa appear to consider the essence of the immutable perfected nature to be the clarity of knowing. Because on top of this ordinary consciousness, the experience of awareness that arises from the similar continuum of its own proximate cause is merely clarity, and the part of its essence that has not been defiled by afflictions and conceptual thoughts from the beginning is the nature or essence of all consciousness, so it cannot be abandoned by antidotes and is therefore called the perfected nature. The aforementioned experience of awareness, due to the influence of the habitual tendencies of grasper and grasped that have come from that continuum since beginningless time, gives rise to the illusion of dualistic appearance, and this aspect of cessation, the other-powered, is temporary, can be abandoned by antidotes, and can be separated from the nature of mind. In this regard, the other-powered and the perfected nature are considered to be the same entity, and like gold and impurities, their nature is considered to be temporary. There is no disagreement in considering the non-inverted perfected nature as the wisdom of the noble ones. It is very difficult to fully understand all these reasons. The non-inverted aspect you just mentioned has appeared in both of your views.
