English
The meaning is: By meditating on these four causes, the self-nature luminosity of the mind itself becomes pure by being free from the hatred of Dharma by the greedy, the ego-grasping of the non-Buddhists, the fear of the suffering of samsara by the Shravakas, and the obscurations of the Pratyekabuddhas who do not care for the benefit of sentient beings, and thus becomes pure, transcending permanence, bliss, self, and purity. That very self-nature luminosity of the mind, when encountering the conditions of the four wheels, even causes other sentient beings who are destined to fall into evil to become weary of samsara and to seek nirvana, which is the meaning of karma. The meaning of possessing is twofold: possessing the cause and possessing the fruit. The first refers to the four causes themselves, such as faith in the Dharma from before. The first is the cause of the complete purification of the Dharmakaya, the middle two are the causes of attaining the wisdom of the Buddha, and the last is the cause of the descent of the great compassion of the Tathagata. Therefore, this realm is called possessing the cause. The five kinds of omniscience of the Buddha's ground, which are like a rain of knowing all that exists, and the wisdom of the exhaustion of defilements that knows reality as it is, and the support of both of them, the exhausted defilements, are called possessing the fruit. Because this is the quality of the state of complete purification of the realm. The distinction of the three suchnesses of ordinary beings, noble ones, and Tathagatas is the meaning of entering. Naming these three as sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas, is the meaning of the state. The self-nature luminosity following these three states is the meaning of universally following. The self-nature luminosity, in the impure state, does not change its essence due to the three afflictions; in the pure and impure states, it does not change due to inconceivable death and rebirth, etc.; in the completely pure state, it does not newly acquire the nature of qualities that were not previously present. In the completely pure state, the self-nature luminosity and qualities such as powers are like a jewel and its color and shape, without distinction, which is complete.

English
This is the meaning of non-differentiation. To symbolize that the self-luminous nature is present in all sentient beings, there are nine similes. Among them, the three similes of Buddha, honey, and essence, respectively represent the Dharmakāya that realizes the perfection of self-benefit, and the Dharmakāya that reveals the profound ultimate truth of the perfection of benefiting others and the various conventional truths, in order to generate faith in the result. After that, the simile of gold represents the Tathāgatagarbha. To make it clear that their nature is like fine gold, unchanging in all circumstances, that is the nature of the Tathāgatagarbha. After that, the other five similes represent the cause of the perfect result. To make it clear how sentient beings obtain that result, because there is that cause, one should strive on the path. Among them, the similes of treasure and tree represent the nature of naturally abiding and increasing. If one wants to know how to obtain the fruit of the three bodies from these two causes, then the three similes of jewel, wheel-turning king, and golden statue represent the effect of these two causes, that is, the function of the three bodies. In this way, the number and order of the nine similes are also determined. Thus, the necessity of explaining the Sugatagarbha with euphemistic language is twofold: the necessity of the literal meaning and the necessity of the intended meaning. First, it is to make those who are attached to the heretical doctrine of self abandon their destructive attachment to non-self and enter the Buddha's teachings. Second, it is to make beginners of the Mahāyāna lineage abandon the five faults such as timidity, generate the five qualities, and then quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment. In short, to make those who have not entered the Buddha's teachings enter, and to make those who have entered perfect and complete, this is the necessity here. From the many extremely profound sutras, the profound meaning spoken of, the meaning of the Sugatagarbha, how the great chariot masters understand it, is distinguished by scripture and reason, and clearly explained. For this, other explanations by others, even if they seem similar, are only generating confusion. Whether it is so or not, the fire of the sutras.

Look! Those who possess impartial wisdom, look! By the virtue of a hundred thousand lights generated by effort here, may it dispel all the darkness of ignorance as vast as the sky, and may I quickly attain the state of omniscient Buddha, who possesses the eye that sees things as they are and as many as they are! This was composed by the Shakya monk, Zhonnu Lodro. In the great Dharma school of glorious Ngamring, Jamyang Namkha Rinchen and his brothers acted as patrons, and at the time when the holders of the Tripitaka residing in the north of U-Tsang were gradually accumulating, Drung Bawa Jamyangpa and the holders of the Tripitaka requested a document containing the rough meaning of the Uttaratantra, and it was granted to them.
