And also knowing the differences in their thoughts, namely inferior, intermediate, and superior, like a wish-fulfilling jewel and an excellent vase, in accordance with the thoughts of sentient beings, he taught the Dharma. Just as it was said, like the words of space, all dharmas are like space, it is necessary to clearly state emptiness. Therefore, one should understand the ultimate meaning of the vows of the five Tathagatas, namely luminosity and union. The Teacher revealed the union manifest, for example, the causes of rubbing wood, a rubbing board, and the movement of a person's hand, first smoke arises, and later fire arises. However, the fire and smoke do not reside in any one of the rubbing wood and so on, nor do they arise without these. Similarly, all the Tathagatas are all empty. The vajra is the great empty. The samaya is the utterly empty. Afterwards, since it is to be known after or following those three emptinesses, it is empty. Thus, the united body also does not arise from any one of the four emptinesses, nor does it arise without them, and it must be understood that it arises in dependence on them. How does union arise in dependence on those four emptinesses? Like going and coming and so on. When the luminosity of the illusory body and meditation are absorbed, through the sequence of the three emptinesses, one goes to the ultimate truth. And again, from the luminosity, through the three appearances of the reverse order coming, the united body becomes completely perfect. To obtain the completely perfect union, there is no going and coming and so on, because as long as samsara is not empty, that body will remain. Therefore, having heard and held this extremely profound Dharma nature, the retinue rejoiced and specially declared: After the arising of union from luminosity was shown, those Bodhisattvas, having arisen with appearances, were amazed. Having realized the Dharma nature, they were wonderful. Having generated wisdom through skillful means, they were majestic and opened their eyes wide. Each from their own awareness of the Dharma nature spoke the following words. Add "How amazing." What is it? The wonderful great Dharma is the ultimate truth.

Because it pervades everything, it is the same as space. Because it is not an object of speculation, it is inconceivable. Because the conventional truth is completely pure, it is pure. Because it obscures and obstructs the view of the ultimate truth arising from it, it is the conventional truth. It is the place where the pure illusory body of the Great Vajradhara appears. It means that it is wonderful to arise again as the coemergent with appearance from the state of entering the ultimate truth and becoming without appearance. The meaning of the chapter title is: the coemergent purified by luminosity is the suchness of the ultimate truth, that is, the Great Vajradhara. Because it is not to be transgressed, it is the samaya. Therefore, it is also called the collection of teachings that explain this meaning. Explanation of the ninth chapter is completed.
