Collection of Teachings by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK278: 'Heart Essence Meaning Instructions: Mind's Mirror' 21-358 'Heart Essence Meaning Instructions: Mind's Mirror' The History of Faith 'Heart Essence Meaning Instructions: Mind's Mirror' I prostrate to the lotus feet of the supreme Lama! With a single arrow of primordiality, in an instant, May the appearance of duality be separated from the hand of death. The essence of the heart's meaning, may the minds of those who are skilled, Be transformed into a state of reverence, I prostrate to it. Having drunk all the rivers of hundreds of thousands of Dharma collections, Becoming the source of precious instructions. The unfathomable ocean of wisdom, To that possessor, I constantly prostrate. I am that supreme one, The dust of the lotus feet. Constantly receiving, The ornament of hair from which bliss arises. In the gathering of excellent offerings, It seems to overflow with the splendor of wisdom's adornment. The heart essence meaning instructions, coming from the mouth of the great Brahmin Saraha, To clarify the difficult-to-find Dharma, Divided into two parts: the history of faith and the Doha Vajra Song. First is: The heart of the Bodhisattva is like a vajra. 21-359 Likewise, for the holder of all the secret treasures of all the Tathagatas, the lord of translators, Marpa, when residing in the village of Lishoka in the territory of Nepal, in a dream, two Brahmin caste girls, wearing Brahman cords, extremely beautiful, able to captivate the minds of all beings, came and said with smiling faces, 'Go to the southern auspicious mountain.' The venerable one said, 'I have never been there before, and I do not know the way.' The two girls said, 'You do not need to make any effort, we will carry you.' Then they put the venerable one in a silk palanquin and lifted him up, and in an instant, they arrived at the auspicious mountain. Under the shade of the Bodhi tree (梵文:Plaksa), they met the great Brahmin Saraha, adorned with charnel ground ornaments, attended by two consorts, sitting majestically on a animal skin cushion. Saraha said, 'Child, have you come safely?' Upon hearing these words, the venerable one felt immeasurable joy and bliss in his heart, and respectfully prostrated and circumambulated, praying, 'Please, Lama, compassionately accept me!' Saraha blessed the venerable one's body, speech, and mind to become the nature of Vajra, and bestowed this true path, which undoubtedly leads to the state of Buddhahood—the Vajra Song. 21-360 The venerable one also said, 'Having the fortune to proceed without obstruction to the supreme state.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instructing disciples like Pal Bzhada'i Dorje (དཔལ་བཞད་པའི་རྡོ་རྗེ་), these teachings of the Lamas, whatever has been transmitted from ear to ear, I too have obtained through serving the holy Lama, and therefore it is not something that is commonly accessible to everyone. Next: 2. The View that Directly Shows the Nature of All Dharmas: Including: the view that directly shows the nature of all dharmas; the meditation that firmly establishes reality in its proper place; the conduct that exposes the falsity of samsara in its own place; and the explanation of the fruition that leads the Dharma to its end. First is: Namo to emptiness, compassion without separation, The unbroken, innate mind, The primordially pure Suchness, Seeing the union of space with space. All dharmas are unborn by nature, do not abide by essence, are free from all limits of karma and action, and are utterly beyond the realm of thought and non-thought. From beginningless time, it is completely pure from all elaborations and is the all-pervading Tathagatagarbha, the perfection of wisdom, which is emptiness. As it is said in the Sahajasiddhi: From the accomplishment of skillful means and wisdom, Whatever is the nature without elaboration, Is widely known as wisdom. The absence of sentient beings, dharmas, and objects of focus, which fills the sixteen aspects of inner joy, the supreme unchanging bliss because all changes are exhausted, and the nature of great compassion that unceasingly arises for the benefit of limitless sentient beings, is compassion. Also: Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, Compassion accomplishes the benefit of all beings. These two, embracing each other, become of one taste in the wisdom of liberation, and this is non-duality. Also: The wisdom of the non-objective state, And the great compassion without object, Like space in space, The wise have them inseparably. Just as it exists in the state of the ground of sentient beings, it remains unchanged even in the state of the fruition of Buddhahood, and thus it is continuous. As it is said in the Sahajasiddhi: The abiding of cause and non-cause, Is truly present at all times. Unchanged by anyone, indestructible, thus it is the innate mind. As it is said in the Dohakosha: The innate nature cannot be defined by anyone. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
