Collection of Teachings by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK271: Tilopa's Secret Words The Root of Tilopa's Secret Words Tilopa's Secret Words In Sanskrit: Tilli Mantra. In Tibetan: Tilopa's Secret Words. Homage to Glorious Vajrasattva! In the state of pure emptiness, I pay homage to the Vajradhara who speaks, The secret words of conduct, Tilopa speaks for the benefit of others: Ignorant and deluded beings, Abandon the wisdom and skillful means, Attached to external objects, Bound by the net of conceptual thoughts. The initial meditation, through habit, Eliminating the play of elaboration, Non-conceptual, without object of focus, From which the state of Buddhas arises, The supreme wisdom goddess, This is called 'the other shore'. To encourage skillful means, The yogi himself is, Inseparable from Vajradhara, Various conducts become clear, Vajra nature, all is good. Having ascertained the inseparability of the two, Regarding what is criticized by worldly people, Abiding in their forms, Following the illusory mind, This is the secret of vow conduct. The upper and lower two embrace each other, Vowels and consonants equally combined. Vowels are called bees, The bee is the terrifying Vajra. With the sound of the terrifying Vajra, Through the union of perfect yoga, The meaning of wind, fire, and the seventh, Combined with the seed syllable of Vajradhara. The bindu is suppressed by sound, Called the stream of rain. Attracting beauty from the ten directions, The first of the vowels, the supreme seed syllable, Held in its center. Consonants should be known as flowers, The flower is the body of Vajradhara. The river of wisdom, this ocean, The crocodile of wisdom, the companion of vowels. In the midst of the non-dual crevice of mud, Through the union of the six perfections, The sprout of skillful means, Blossoms like a Bandhuka flower. The place of honey and nectar, Consonants are also nectar. Water and flowers merge into it, In the form of the song of Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), Pleasing all the yoginis. Through the power of the joy of the Vajra limbs, It is seen with the eyes. With the nature of the first letter, Playing in emptiness, Away from existence and non-existence, Also seeking its essence. Destroy all thoughts, Destroy all letters. This is the ascetic practice of inviting the consort. Initially, it is the great wheel. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the mandala of the heart chakra, One's own powers and so forth increase, Entering into oneself, By obtaining the non-dual Dharma, One attains liberation itself. Bewildered by the pleasures of samsara, One abandons liberation itself. Abiding in illusion, One ripens sentient beings of various forms. United with all the Buddhas, The net of dakinis gathers. That is victorious in all directions. Completed, the work of the yogi master Tailopa. Translated in Nepal by the wisdom dakini, brought from the place of Dharma Lord Kharchu, as in the old manuscript. Explanation of the Secret Words Making offerings to Caṇḍālī (Tibetan: ཙཎྜཱ་ལཱི, Sanskrit Devanagari: चण्डाली, Sanskrit Romanization: Caṇḍālī, Chinese literal meaning: Fierce Woman) is to become accustomed to the yoga of the mind. Having abandoned all the dharmas of samsara on this shore, from the far shore of the ocean of wisdom, Standing as an illusionary dancer, guiding all to the gate of Dharma. I prostrate to the lord of the assembly who has accomplished the aim of the wise, the lama of the three realms. By the kindness of that supreme lord, All the secret words of the tantras without exception, With the courage of fearless explanation, May white lotuses flourish on the earth. Here, the second text on the equality of tastes, the secret words composed by the great teacher Tilopa, will be explained. In the language of India: Tilīmantrī. In Tibetan: Tilopa's Secret Words. Homage to glorious Vajrasattva. These are made easy by the translator, so they are sure to be easy to understand. Having paid homage to the state of pure E Vaṃ (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: Evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: ), the teacher himself made this homage at the beginning of the treatise. He showed that all the dharmas gathered by the base, path, and fruit of the secret mantra practitioner are placed in the indivisible E Vaṃ (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: Evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: ) as the place of homage. The meaning of the indivisible E Vaṃ (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: Evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: ) is also: The good qualities of E (Tibetan: ཨེ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: E, Chinese literal meaning: ), adorned in the center with the form of Vaṃ (Tibetan: ཝཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: Vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: ), the place of all bliss, the precious wish-fulfilling jewel of the Buddhas. Having paid homage, what is to be done? The secret words of conduct spoken by Vajradhara, Tilopa, will be explained. Those non-dual conducts spoken by the Vajradhara Buddhas in the tantras depend on the guru's instructions, so the meaning of secretly explaining the instructions themselves is called secret words, that is, the composition. What is the need for the composition? For the sake of others, those with sharp faculties and very coarse afflictions will know the conduct of great desire from this, and by entering into it, they will go to the other shore of samsara, called liberation. The non-dual conduct, for beginners, yogis, accomplished ones, and all-knowing ones --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
