Collection of Teachings by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK269, The Earlier Garland of the Vajra Songs of Glorious Pema Karpo. The Earlier Garland of the Vajra Songs of Glorious Pema Karpo. The Earlier Garland of the Vajra Songs of Glorious Pema Karpo. Homage to the embodiment of all Victorious Ones, the glorious Drukpa father and sons. The heart essence where the lotus of compassion of the Victorious Ones blossoms, The glorious gaze where the sword of Jampal (Mañjuśrī) flashes, Like the sun dispelling the darkness of samsara, I pay homage to the excellence of wondrous power. Hundreds of songs, like the nectar to the ears of various beings to be tamed, Like the songs of the Gandharvas, From these songs emerge the means to be led to liberation, Herein lies the fulfillment of all desires for all. The third emanation of the noble Avalokiteśvara, the master of the Victorious Ones, the glorious Drukpa Rinpoche, whose fame is widely spread throughout the three realms, this collection of his great vajra songs, composed from the age of nineteen to fifty, is compiled together. The great sacred place where the glorious Bhairava Heruka delights in play, the land of Tsari, where heroes and heroines gather like clouds, these songs of view, meditation, and conduct were sung during the circumambulation. The glorious accomplisher of all perfections, The Vajradhara of the invisible sphere, Now, Ngawang Chökyi Gyalpo (the present speech lord, king of Dharma), I bow to the feet of the incomparable one. Searching for appearance and emptiness, Looking for awareness and rootlessness, Finding the object of view and the view itself, Why bother arguing about good and bad? Not measured by logic or reason, Cherish this experience. Like a great garuda soaring in the sky, Meditate in your heart, Pema Karpo. Sustain the spontaneously born wisdom freely, Release the six consciousnesses into emptiness without fabrication. Do not meditate on anything other than what arises, Why bother with the elaborations of mind? Not like going into a boundless ocean, But being free from mental fabrication. Cherish this! Like an uninterrupted river, Meditate in your heart, Pema Karpo. Look nakedly at the face of afflictions, Strike a blow on top of hope and fear. There are no favorable conditions other than obstacles, Why bother with abandoning and adopting what to abandon and adopt? Without despising the cause and effect, Without laziness or attachment. Cherish this! Like a drunken elephant running wild, Meditate in your heart, Pema Karpo. The field of play of the protector Heruka, The land of Tsari of the dakinis. A forest where experiences and realizations arise simultaneously. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the sacred stupa of the yogi, The meditator wandering in the kingdom, Feeling joy in the happy pure land, sings, Offering melodious worship to all the precious ones. A song of remembrance. This song was sung in the hermitage of Merak in Kongpo: Do not rush outwards, gather inwards. If you rush outwards, you will remember the appearances of desirable things. Clinging to joy and sorrow, accompanying for a long time. The enemy of afflictions, skilled at seduction. The army of conceptual thoughts, coarse and numerous. The sentries of agitation and dullness, always vigilant. The companions of mindfulness and awareness, continuous. The laziness of equanimity, skilled at blocking practice. The frivolous mind, happy to wander. The state of tranquility, in danger of being destroyed. Look inward, like a white lotus. Do not bind the mind, relax and abide. If the mind is bound, it will try to rush in ten directions. If left free, it will naturally abide. If diligently guarded, one will know one's own faults. Deceiving oneself with the practice of oppressing oneself. Do not make any embellishments, let it be natural. Directly face the appearances of the six senses. The falsehood of the mundane, will eventually collapse. Be aware of all the escape routes of confusion. The effort to defeat the enemy, will become a friend. From the root, awaken the distinction between samsara and nirvana. Thus it is said. Most scholars are burdened by the eight worldly concerns. Most practitioners also cling to worldly high positions. Now is the time of the five degenerations. Those who sincerely practice the Dharma are extremely rare. Ordained ones claim to be slaves of desire. Realized ones follow worldly women. The time when the Buddha's teachings are nearing decline. Those who listen, contemplate, and meditate properly are extremely rare. Always pretending to act according to the Dharma. When adverse circumstances harm, the true Dharma declines. Whatever is done becomes meaningless, only futile. Those who strive to benefit themselves and others, and attain happiness, are extremely rare. Those who think highly of themselves are mostly bound by fame and gain. The humble are tormented by falling into the abyss of contempt. Average people are busy day and night without meaning. Those who make the leisure and endowment meaningful are extremely rare. The words that all conditioned things are impermanent. Although often proclaimed in the midst of the masses. They only strive to accumulate external things. Those whose words and deeds are consistent are extremely rare. This is not to discuss the faults of others. It is only stating the facts, revealing the truth. Therefore, follow the teachings of the Buddha. Acting as the Buddha said is the wise one. Residing in a low position, wearing ragged clothes. Giving up all three things: food, clothing, and talk. In solitude. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
