Thereafter, in the middle of the red-faced Tibet, With compassion for the ignorant beings, the kings of Dharma came in succession. Especially Khri srong lde btsan, in order to spread the sacred Dharma, Built great temples and arranged for learned paN+Di tas. When the translation of the sacred Dharmas began, the gods and demons of the dark side, with cunning means, Made the king sick and the country suffer, and when all the evil ministers were arrogant, The teacher Padmasambhava (pad+ma badz+ra) took the king's wealth and food, Made them into substitutes (yas thags) and offered them, so that they were each satisfied. Not only did they stop harming, but they also began to seek ways to benefit, and entered into the service of accomplishing deeds. Likewise, now the yogi I, have made wealth and offerings into substitutes (mdos), And combined all the patrons as ransom (glud), and offered them with the power of mantra, mudra, and samadhi. From the glorious goddess (dpal gyi lha mo chen mo) to the sentient mother goddess (srid pa sman mo), Offered to the retinue of the terrifying mother ( 'jigs byed ma mo), and also satisfied the paternal deities.
