Collection of Instructions by the Omniscient Pema Garpo PK187: The Instruction on Touching the Palate with the Tip of the Tongue—The Direct Path of the Vajra Holder 17-437 The Instruction on Touching the Palate with the Tip of the Tongue—The Direct Path of the Vajra Holder Unique History The Instruction on Touching the Palate with the Tip of the Tongue—The Direct Path of the Vajra Holder I prostrate to the feet of the venerable and holy Lama, inseparable from glorious Vajrasattva! To transform all these appearances of manifold conceptualizations Into the joy of great bliss, Who reveals the essence of the Vajrayana, I bow to the Lama, one with the Lord of the Wheel. 17-438 The herd of grasping deer in the forest of existence, The hunter who ends them, attached to the state of union. The skillful and brave glorious Śavaripa, I bow to the second jewel on the crown of beings. I, in the scriptures, In the desert of many meanings, When tormented by thirst, found the Lama's words, Like a cool vase of nectar, Having drunk without satiety, I now regurgitate a small portion here. Thus, the way to make all the limbs of yoga of all the unsurpassed tantras into one's own unique experience is the supreme yoga of applying oneself manifestly to the original state of mind. This instruction on touching the palate with the tip of the tongue has a unique history and the vajra words. First, the great scholar of Satnagara, Śrīvanaratna, or otherwise known as Akṣobhyavajra, initially ripened the southern mountain of glory with his feet, and for the sake of achieving the desired siddhis, he was urged to go to the north. At that time, in front of the glorious King Siṃhakunjarāja, in the secret supreme palace of Śāntapuri, the basis for manifestly surpassing with great enjoyment all aspects of the self-appearing mandala of siddhas, vidyadharas, co-emergent consorts, mantra-born consorts, and supremely fortunate ones. 17-439 With Bhārimā, who enjoys together with Vāgīśvara, as a friend, seemingly urged by his own Lama Saṃgharakṣita, he bowed to the glorious mountain hermit and requested to be taken in with the correct understanding of the Vajrayana. Based on the certainty of the vessel, he secretly instructed on the place of the near cause of achieving the desired siddhis. Again, requesting to abide in the certainty of the secret instruction, at that very moment, in the outer, inner, and secret mandalas of the nature of the glorious thirteen deities, the great siddhi of achieving the desired arises manifestly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having bestowed the grace of translation, this Vajra word, which is the essence of the great secret Tantra and even the essence of that essence, has been granted. Leading those of sharp faculties who are devoted to the signless, by joining the tip of the tongue to the palate. The second part is divided into two: with one verse, secretly instructing on the place of the near cause of accomplishment, and with the remaining four, directly explaining the yoga for accomplishing the great accomplishment of desires. The first point is: 'Whatever person dwells in an inferior vehicle, or delights in speculation, or is a truly qualified Bhikshu, do not show them this Dharma.' This path should not be shown to those who have inferior faith, who only take words to heart, or who are satisfied with the possessions of a Bhikshu. The second part: leading those of sharp faculties who are devoted to the signless, by joining the tip of the tongue to the palate; leading those of intermediate faculties who are devoted to the signed, by joining the tip of the tongue to the palate; leading those of dull faculties who are attached, by joining the tip of the tongue to the palate. Among these three, the first is binding the body through actions, binding the eyes through the way of seeing, and binding the mind through the method of placement. The first point is: block the lower gate (anus) with the heel of either foot, place the other foot on top, stacking the two knees straight forward, restraining with a meditation belt so that it is level with the waist. Place the hands in Vajra fists at the junction of the thighs and body, straighten the elbows to restrain the upper body. Straighten the spine, slightly bend the neck. Join the tip of the tongue to the palate. Leave a slight gap between the lips. The second point is: let the eyes naturally half-open, without moving, look straight ahead at the sky. The third point is: generate the Samadhi that manifests one's own nature, and on that basis, generate the deity that one desires. The first point is: 'Yoga of joining the tip of the tongue to the palate, the yogi strives with one mind.' Here, the tongue represents the consciousness possessing an object, the palate represents emptiness, and joining them represents making them of equal taste, which is the meaning of yoga. To manifest this state, in a state of equal flow of wind, nature, or adjustment by the power of conditions, the luminous nature that is separated from the impurities of the body, flesh, and blood, like an illusion, like a mere reflection, in the center of the empty inner sky, like a lamp, four fingers below the navel, is the form of one's own root guru, the Great Vajradhara (藏文:རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་ཆེན་པོ,梵文天城体:वज्रधर,梵文罗马拟音:Vajradhara,汉语字面意思:持金刚), is the realm of --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
