Collection of Teachings by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK83: The Practice of Seven-Limbed Devotion Condensed 11-216 ༄༅། །The Practice of Seven-Limbed Devotion Condensed ༄། །Preliminary. The Practice of Seven-Limbed Devotion Condensed. The lotus at the base is well-painted with auspicious colors, offering to the world, without reverence for the Dharma, falling into the realm of renunciation. The qualified guru, the certain Drukpa, the stream of nectar flowing from the moon of his speech. Who can drink this nectar without being attached to the taste of the wine that speaks the truth, touching peace and living in bliss? Whoever is connected to him has meaning, who else is there besides him? The pure land of the mind is filled with the drawings of his biography, and the assembly of virtues of good speech gathers like spectators without being invited, 11-217 The wise should choose him as their ultimate protector. Here, whatever is heard is condensed into practice, not abandoning the companions of the eight worldly concerns, aligning words and intentions, placing body, speech, and mind on the path of virtue, cutting off the attachment to this life, and unknowingly ascending to the state of liberation. This is the special instruction of Dharma Lord Drukpa. This instruction includes three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminary: contemplate all sentient beings, cultivate immeasurable loving-kindness, wishing them to have happiness; cultivate immeasurable compassion, wishing them to be free from suffering; cultivate immeasurable joy, wishing them never to be separated from happiness; cultivate immeasurable equanimity, wishing them to be free from all suffering and happiness. Recite: Om Svabhava Shuddha Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham. From emptiness, from the seed syllable (藏文:བྷྲཱུྃ,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:bhrūṃ,汉语字面意思:) arises the vajra ground, upon which is the center of various vajras. Blessed by all the Tathagatas, made of the wish-fulfilling jewel king, the outer is the Great Bodhi Stupa, the boundaries are well adorned with Bodhi trees, the inner is the palace of the Vajra Seat. Above, the root guru and the Kagyu lineage gurus are stacked. Inside the vase is Anuttarayoga, on the steps are Yoga, 11-218 Kriya and Charya Tantras, all the Buddhas of the three times, heroes, dakinis, and the Sangha, as well as the Dharma protectors, the wisdom protectors, and the seventy-five lords of the pure realms of the world are arranged in order. On the lion throne, the eight classes of beings, headed by the earth lords, and the beings of the six realms, all reside in the center of the vase in the posture of holding up the stupa. One's own body manifests as the wrathful deity, Manjushri Yamantaka, white Becon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Above the crown of the head, visualize one's own speech as the wrathful deity Red Hayagriva (Horse-Headed One), brandishing a staff. At the heart, visualize one's own mind as the wrathful deity Vajrapani (Holder of the Vajra), dark blue, brandishing a vajra. The left hands make a threatening gesture at the heart. The face is extremely wrathful, with four fangs bared, three eyes wide open, glaring with hatred. The eyebrows and beard blaze with fire. The hair stands on end, adorned with the eight glorious ornaments, the body is short and stout, the limbs are thick. The right leg is extended, residing in the daytime. From the pores of the skin, emanate wrathful male and female deities, as well as hailstorms of iron, vajras, swords, and other sharp weapons, surrounded by blazing flames. Recite the mantra OM AH HUM (藏文:ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:ओम् आः हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡啊吽) one hundred and eight times. The Main Practice The second part is the main practice, which has fourteen aspects: First, generating the mind of enlightenment and making supplications; second, meditating on the meaningless and reversing it; third, purifying the realms and meditating on compassion; then, meditating on the single practice and perfecting the skills; next, establishing karmic connections and practicing; then, bestowing the four empowerments and meditating on the pure instructions; after that, arranging interdependent origination and making aspirations. First is generating the mind of enlightenment: In order to liberate all sentient beings from endless samsara and place them in the state of great bliss, I shall attain perfect Buddhahood. For this purpose, practicing the seven-branch offering is the entry. Recite 'The ten directions and three times' until 'May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings through the merit of my virtuous deeds,' recite three times. Second is making supplications: Above one's own crown, on a throne supported by eight great lions, on a lotus, moon, and sun cushion, resides the root guru. The guru gazes at oneself with delight, with a smiling face. Looking at him is never tiring, he is the emanation body of the inexhaustible wheel of ornaments. Speech is the enjoyment body of the inexhaustible wheel of ornaments. Mind is the dharma body of the inexhaustible wheel of ornaments. These three, although separated, are not dualistic, but are of the same taste, the common image, the nature body. It is the nature of the four bodies and five wisdoms, the master of all families, the chief of all mandalas, the embodiment of the Three Jewels. Thinking that there should be no doubt or hesitation about this, from the depths of the heart, from the depths of the bones, regard the guru as the protector and refuge of this life, the intermediate state, and all future lives, as if merging into him, unable to separate. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
