Seeing directly the suchness of all that can be known, Having crossed to the far shore of the ocean of learning, Sole protector of all siddhas, I respectfully bow to the renunciate Lord. The path seen and spoken by the Buddhas, Is vast and profound, difficult to realize. Through the explanation of pith instructions, Those who desire enlightenment, please enter here! Therefore, the root of all blessings, the source of all accomplishments, the essence of all paths of Secret Mantra Vajrayana, is the instruction on Guru Devotion. This instruction is divided into two parts: preliminaries and main practice. The preliminaries are further divided into four parts: visualizing the Guru as the field of merit and offering the mandala; visualizing the Guru as the deity and purifying obscurations; visualizing the Guru as the refuge and supplicating; and blending the Guru with one's own mind to dispel obstacles. First, the first part. 10-427 The preliminaries include: the mandala for accumulating the preliminaries and the mandala for offering the main practice. First, the mandala for accumulating the preliminaries: through understanding the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, impermanence of death, the law of cause and effect, and the faults of samsara, abandoning all worldly activities, one should meditate with body, speech, and mind focused on one point. First, going for refuge and generating bodhicitta. Visualize in the space in front of you, a square Mount Meru made of four kinds of precious jewels, with four tiers. On top of Mount Meru, in the center of various four-petaled lotuses, a precious throne supported by eight great lions.

Upon a lotus and moon cushion, I take refuge in Shakyamuni Buddha, surrounded by the Buddhas of the three times. In the west, upon a throne supported by peacocks, on a lotus and moon cushion, I take refuge in the Great Mother (Yum Chenmo), surrounded by the teachings of scripture and realization. In the north, upon a precious throne supported by elephants, on a lotus and moon cushion, I take refuge in Avalokiteśvara (Chenrezig), surrounded by the Sangha of the Great, Middle, and Small Vehicles. I contemplate the assembly of Dharma protectors residing around. The second is the offering of the Mandala: Prepare a precious Mandala, or if not, clean the ground and anoint it with water mixed with the five products of cow, the five excellent fragrances, and so on. Arrange the Mandala with 'Om Vajra Bhumi' and so on. Visualize its shape as the four continents, filled with various enjoyments in the intermediate spaces, and offer it. Furthermore, offer the five kinds of flowers and other offerings, as well as the stable things mentioned in the Guru Puja such as 'sky, sun, and moon,' which are the outer offerings. Offer the changing things such as the gods, which are the inner offerings. Offer the five such as Rupavajra and the eight such as Lasya, and the sixteen such as the Matrikas, which are the secret offerings. The co-emergent wisdom of bliss and emptiness arising from these is the offering of Suchness itself. One should also accomplish praises that are in accordance with these offerings. Finally, the main retinue of Avalokiteśvara dissolves into the main retinue of the Great Mother, that dissolves into the main retinue of the Buddha, that dissolves into the main retinue of the Yidam, that dissolves into the main retinue of the Guru. Then, with the Vajra Samhara mantra and mudra, absorb these into oneself. Dedicate the merit to Bodhi. Secondly, purifying obscurations by visualizing the Guru as the Root Lineage Holder: On the crown of one's head, visualize 'Vam' (藏文,梵文天城体:वम्,梵文罗马拟音:vam, water seed syllable) transforming into an eight-petaled lotus, and upon that, 'Ah' (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,emptiness seed syllable) transforming into a moon mandala... At the crown is 'Om' (藏文,梵文天城体:ॐ,梵文罗马拟音:om,body seed syllable), at the throat is 'Ah' (藏文,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:ā,speech seed syllable), and at the heart is 'Hum' (藏文,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,mind seed syllable). From these syllables, light radiates forth, inviting the wisdom being resembling oneself, along with the retinue of deities. Offer with the five offerings. Invite the wisdom being, reciting 'Jah Hum Vam Hoh' (藏文,梵文天城体:जः हुं वं होः,梵文罗马拟音:jaḥ hūṃ vaṃ hoḥ,invite, merge, bind, delight), causing them to descend, abide, unite, and rejoice. Request all the Tathagatas to bestow empowerment, and upon this request, all the Tathagatas conceive the intention to bestow empowerment. The consorts hold jeweled vases filled with nectar, reciting the verses 'As you were born,' and empower with mantras such as 'Shri Ye Hum' (藏文,梵文天城体:श्री ये हुं,梵文罗马拟音:śrī ye hūṃ,glorious yes hum). Visualize the entire body filled with the nectar of wisdom, and Akshobhya crowning it. With intense devotion from the three doors, pray to the one whose essence is the Guru and whose form is Vajrasattva, requesting the Bhagavan Vajrasattva to purify all the sins, obscurations, and transgressions of myself and others. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
