Collection of Instructions by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK21: 'The Great Bodhisattva Pema Karpo's Biography - The Play of Great Compassion' The Great Bodhisattva Pema Karpo's Biography - The Play of Great Compassion The Great Bodhisattva Pema Karpo's Biography - The Play of Great Compassion Homage! To the Lord of the World, Brahma, Vishnu, the Three-Eyed One, and all others, who come seeking refuge, surrounded by light, and immensely wealthy. With the fullness of the Prajnaparamita, forming the embodiment of the compassion of all Buddhas, among the beings of the three realms, Like a reservoir of many faiths, auspicious and complete, bestowing the offering of nectar, the name 'Lotus-Eyed One' shines brightly in letters. Who makes the eyes of wondrous sight unwavering, performing the deeds of a great ascetic in the sky of the lotus, I prostrate to him. (The above is a verse.) By the chariot-like movement of his magical illusion, the dust raised obscures the view, Subduing all the faults of existence, like one with a topknot in a noisy place. In the long reservoir, when the nectar of the ears draws near, one also seeks from elsewhere. In the vine of perfect gathering, the heavenly realms of the three realms, the wish-fulfilling jewel is also at the top of the victory banner. At the time of offering, whether near or far, without laziness, benefiting beings, like a source of jewels, like a virtuous friend everywhere. The Invincible One, Vishnu, treads on the heart of the lotus, the arrogant one, the blue-necked one, climbs the ladder of the hair. Mingling with the white moon of speech, again, the victorious son of the gods in all directions, gazes respectfully. Ema! In the source of existence, who, with his nature as a condition, Is skilled in accomplishing the final transformation, he is the embodiment of the all-knowing one. This saying is circulated: In all the worlds, whatever brings benefit and happiness, the root of all this is the great compassion of the Buddhas, the Tathagatas, Arhats, and Perfectly Enlightened Ones. The form of this great compassion is the Lotus-Handed One (Avalokiteśvara). Moreover, countless eons ago, When a Buddha named Ratna-garbha appeared in the world, the eldest son of the Chakravartin king, the son of the wheel, named Animiṣa, He gazed upon all sentient realms and saw immeasurable suffering. To save them, may my name be blessed, Whoever hears my name will be free from the fear of falling into the lower realms. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'May they not fall into unfavorable circumstances and be born in Sukhavati!' They made such vast aspirations. Thereupon, the Tathagata praised, 'Excellent! Excellent! Just as you have gazed upon all realms of sentient beings, therefore, your name shall be known as Avalokiteshvara.' From then on, that name became widely known, and merely hearing that name prevents one from falling into the lower realms. They merely take the path of goodness and begin to awaken the seed of enlightenment. Although he liberated immeasurable realms of sentient beings many times, they did not become fewer. When he became discouraged in fulfilling his vows, his head split into eleven pieces. Amitabha appeared as a spiritual friend and blessed him with eleven faces. From his tears, lotuses were created, from which two Taras were born. Furthermore, from the pinnacle of his great illusion, a thousand lamps of this fortunate eon appeared. During the time when the five degenerations flourished, when the compassion of other Buddhas waned, the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha well protected and turned the wheel of Dharma three times. From that unsurpassed nectar, he drank immeasurably. In the glorious tantras, he made extensive commentaries on the root tantra. In the center of the ninety-six kotis cities of Shambhala, the son of the great Kalki became White Lotus. In particular, this snow land is his pure land. When the teacher was living in the world, it was a great lake. One hundred years after his passing into nirvana, the lake gradually dried up, forming a grove of Sala trees. There, this noble one and the emanations of Tara were born as humans. Some of them came from the noble Licchavi clan. After many generations, they were crowned as kings. When Lha Thothori Nyantsen held the kingdom, this noble one's 'Karandavyuha Sutra' and the 'Hundred Syllable Vajrasattva' fell from the sky, initiating the beginning of the sacred Dharma. Therefore, people began to have faith and draw images. Later, he incarnated as Songtsen Gampo. He became an eleven-faced emanation king. He married the princesses from Nepal and China, who were emanations of Green Tara and White Tara respectively. Vajrapani and Manjushri became ministers Gar Tongtsen and Thonmi Sambhota. Tibet became a Rakshasi. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
