The wise perceive feelings as an ocean, impossible to exhaust; worldly affairs are like ripples on water, striving to grasp and accomplish them is a futile endeavor; youthful vigor, like encountering the thief of old age, white hair like iron hooks, wrinkles like ropes, tightly bound, ultimately falling into the abyss of decay, one should feel fear towards this; in the prison of existence, turning away from virtuous deeds, compelled by the messengers of karma, involuntarily led to unbearable suffering—towards all of this, shouldn't one arise with deep compassion?
