Regarding the texts for obtaining this transmission, the two works by Arya Ratna are as reliable as the Indian Sanskrit originals. The way to understand the meaning from these works is that both texts have three parts: the introduction, the main body, and the subsequent rejoicing. The main body has four aspects: entering the explanation, the actual dharani (gzung sngags dngos), its benefits, and activities. The third part, 'Son of lineage, this dharani called the Victorious Banner of the Ushnisha of all Tathagatas is the staff of the Lord of Death,' etc., is about the benefits. The fourth part, activities, has five aspects: relying on stupas, painting activities, fire offering activities, vidyadhara activities, and the auxiliary activities of regular practice. Thus, the benefits and activities are divided into thirty subcategories, and if the benefits are further divided in detail, there are forty-five. Since there is concern that there will be too much text here, they are not all listed. If you want to know more, please understand from the actual text and commentary. Regarding the actual practice, there are three parts: preliminary practices, the main practice, and subsequent activities. First is the preliminary practice, which has two aspects: the preliminary practices for the ritual, such as offerings, etc.; and prostrations and sojong, etc. First, in each case, prepare the respective offerings, etc., in a clean and secluded place. In particular, for the one-day vase offering, draw an eight-petaled white lotus in the center of a square platform, or if there are no conditions, place a qualified vase containing items on a clean base of cloth, etc., with an enshrinement of the Namgyal stupa facing east. Around it, place the necessary offerings and food, as well as a thousand lamps. On the outer perimeter, place two water offerings, umbrellas, banners, flags, etc., a thousand offerings of implements, and place the tormas in the appropriate places. The vase does not need conch shells, etc., the reason for this will be explained in the recitation section below. Second, the extensive prostrations and the seven-branch offering, although not in the text, their meaning is present, this comes from the practice of the lineage masters. The eight-branch sojong is a common preliminary practice for Kriya Tantra, which is explained in the Bāhuśruti Sutra, and is also explained in the root and commentary of this text itself. The meaning is this.

In the past, some foolish people thought that during the observance of fasting, one should make inner offerings and give alms to others, and that in the morning, noon, and evening, one needed to practice different meditations and recitations of the three deities. These erroneous ideas, The esteemed Sakya Pandita (a renowned scholar and thinker of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism) has already refuted them well. There are also some later people who list many reasons why monks should not uphold vows, which contradict many scriptures and treatises, and also have great contradictions with their own statements. Some people abandon the vows considering that they cannot keep them, and many others say that they will wait until the end of the Dharma assembly, and then arbitrarily set the time for accepting and abandoning them, which is merely self-deception. Although it has been heard that this is a ritual of blessing, one should turn a deaf ear to it. The main practice is divided into two parts: 1. General practice: Daily Yoga; 2. Special practice: Temporary Yoga. The first part is further divided into two types: practicing according to the independent practice of Kriya Tantra; and practicing in accordance with other tantras. The first is: Residing on a clean and comfortable seat, with refuge and generating Bodhicitta as the preliminary, knowing that oneself and the external world are all appearances without inherent existence. On this basis, visualize that there are moon discs at the seven places of one's own head, etc., and on the moon discs are seven bright seed syllables such as Om (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्, Sanskrit Romanization: om, Chinese literal meaning: Om). While focusing on these syllables, recite: Om (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्, Sanskrit Romanization: om, Chinese literal meaning: Om) Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Ah) Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) Tram (Tibetan: ཏྲྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: त्रं, Sanskrit Romanization: traṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Tram) Hrih (Tibetan: ཧྲིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Hrih) Am (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Am) Ah (Tibetan: ཨཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अः, Sanskrit Romanization: aḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Ah) Mama Sarva Sattva Ñca Raksha Raksha Kuru Svaha (Tibetan: མ་མ་སརྦ་སཏྭ་ཉྩ་རཀྵ་རཀྵ་ཀུ་རུ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मम सर्व सत्त्व ञ्च रक्ष रक्ष कुरु स्वाहा, Sanskrit Romanization: mama sarva sattva ñca rakṣa rakṣa kuru svāhā, Chinese literal meaning: Mine, all, sentient beings, and, protect, protect, do, Svaha). Recite seven times. Then visualize that in front of you, on their respective seats, are nine deities of Vijaya (Victorious One) surrounded, and around them are countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Visualize in the heart of the main deity, in the center of the moon disc, is the syllable Bhrum (Tibetan: བྷྲཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्रूं, Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Bhrum), surrounded by mantras, and with the mudra of granting victory, recite the long mantra of Vijaya once. Then release the mudra and recite with firm concentration until the end of the session. When reciting 'Namo' (Sanskrit, meaning 'homage'), generate the belief of paying homage to these deities. Practicing three sessions like this is the extensive practice, and the medium and brief practices can be understood from the commentaries. This is just a brief introduction from the practice of the two visualizations. If you want to know more, you can learn from the ocean of detailed explanations of the general tantras. The second is: After receiving the empowerment of each deity from the great accomplished masters, practice many rituals of Kriya Tantra in the manner of Anuttara-yoga Tantra. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ་མཛད་
