From the very beginning, appearance and emptiness, samsara and nirvana, are without distinction. Whatever thoughts arise in the mind, the very moment they arise is awareness, emptiness, samsara and nirvana are without distinction. Whatever arises is the play of Dharmakaya (法身,Dharmakāya), whatever appears is the display of samsara and nirvana without distinction. Just as a merchant goes to the golden island to seek treasure, there is no need to deliberately seek an object of practice. Simply abiding in whatever appears, without any fabrication, is sufficient. Some people say that the above-mentioned appearance, sound, and awareness, the principle of samsara and nirvana without distinction, is practice, not view. This statement is unreasonable. As the venerable one said: 'A great tree and flowers, the former is the nature of samsara, the latter is the nature of nirvana, the two are without distinction, abiding in non-distinction.' Jamyang Konchok Lhundrup (蒋扬·贡却·伦珠) also said: 'Unborn yet appearing as all things, the nature of all things is inherently joyful Dharma. Realize the meaning of Dharma and phenomena being inseparable, may I realize the ultimate view free from extremes.' By analyzing the meaning of these many scriptural proofs, there will be no doubt about the view of samsara and nirvana without distinction. In short, the Dharmakaya (法身,Dharmakāya) at the ground level is the original nature of mind, unadulterated. At the path level, practice by not altering the nature of mind, so that at the fruition level, one can nakedly see the original face of the unaltered nature of mind, which is called enlightenment. If there is a Buddha other than mind, we cannot accept it, nor can we integrate with it. In short, those who do not recognize their own nature are sentient beings, and those who recognize their own nature are called Buddhas. The so-called view, practice, and conduct are just different names temporarily established for the convenience of beings with different capacities, but their essence is the same view of samsara and nirvana without distinction. As the lineage of gurus has taught: First, be certain that the appearances of external objects are all one's own mind; second, recognize that mind is also just an appearance; third, know that appearances are like illusions; finally, understand that illusory appearances are just dependent arising. Realize the meaning of dependent arising, free from all extremes of speech, and thereby gain unwavering certainty about the profound reality, this is the view. On this basis, first perform the three preliminary practices, then through the three main practices, abide in the profound view, and finally complete the practice with the three concluding practices, this is practice. Always maintain the mindfulness of the view, without losing awareness, thereby dispelling external obstacles of evil spirits, diseases, and secret obstacles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mixing afflictions, the three poisons (greed, hatred, and delusion), the eight worldly concerns (gain, loss, disgrace, fame, praise, criticism, suffering, and pleasure), and all kinds of attachments, aversions, and deluded thoughts with meditation is like adding more fuel to a fire, making it burn stronger. No matter how intense negative circumstances, obstacles, or grasping thoughts may be, as long as one does not stray from the essence of the view, it is like a block of ice melting into water. All these experiences will be recognized as waves of the great bliss of the Dharmadhatu (realm of truth), and the view will become even more profound. This is conduct. Therefore, if a genuine and unadulterated experience of the profound view arises in one's being, it will become the antidote to all afflictions. Generally, the compassionate teacher (Buddha) taught various methods: the contemplation of impurity as an antidote to desire, the meditation on loving-kindness as an antidote to hatred, the observation of dependent origination in forward and reverse order as an antidote to ignorance, the analysis of the elements as an antidote to pride, and the contemplation of equality between oneself and others as an antidote to jealousy. However, the contemplation of impurity only benefits desire and cannot pacify hatred; loving-kindness pacifies hatred but does not benefit desire. If an unfeigned certainty arises regarding the profound view, it will become the antidote to all afflictions. For example, in the world, there is a medicine called 'Heroic Single Remedy' that is an antidote to all diseases. Similarly, if one realizes the meaning of emptiness without error, it will become the antidote to all afflictions. The Omniscient Dharma King said: 'The water of impurity may wash away the dirt of desire, but it cannot destroy the rock of hatred; the fire of loving-kindness may burn the thicket of hatred, but it does not wash away the dirt of attachment; with the sword of realizing emptiness and dependent origination as one, one can cut from the root the tree of self-grasping, which grows together with its fruits, nourished by karma and afflictions.' If all the teachings of the path are summarized, they can be condensed into the six paramitas (perfections): generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom. This easily arises for someone who has realized the essential points of the view without error. In the *Bodhicharyavatara* (Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life), the meaning of the nine verses from 'If one wishes to benefit the poor' to 'They wander meaninglessly in vain' is that the six paramitas are not found on the external body and speech but must be sought within the internal mind. That is, generating a mind of giving from the depths of one's heart is the paramita of generosity; eradicating the intention to harm from the root is the paramita of discipline; eradicating anger from the root is the paramita of patience; generating a joyful mind towards virtue from the depths of one's heart is the paramita of diligence; the mind abiding in one-pointedness is the paramita of concentration; and seeing the true nature of all phenomena as they are with wisdom is the paramita of wisdom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
