As it is said, 'Especially superior.' The Sutra and Tantra, on the basis, are the ultimate union of the two truths, conventional and ultimate; on the path, they are the ultimate union of skillful means and wisdom; on the result, they are the ultimate union of the two bodies, Dharmakaya and Rupakaya, being one in meaning. However, in the means of realizing these, there is a difference of being deluded or not, a difference of more or fewer means, and a difference of quick or slow realization, which depends on the sharpness or dullness of the faculties, that is, acknowledging the four differences of superiority. Although these are generally present, if you want to know these meanings in detail, please refer to my treatise 'Distinguishing Philosophies,' which will satisfy you.' As soon as he said this, the great debater U Yukpa was satisfied, abandoned his armor of debate, and respectfully prostrated, thinking, 'I should stay by his side for a long time and become proficient in these doctrines.' Then he said this: 'You have clear wisdom for all that is knowable, the glory of the lord of the five sciences, the protector of beings, the victory banner of Dharma, I will always serve at your feet.' It is said that U Yukpa said this. Je Tsongkhapa said, 'Even if I have realized the nature of no birth, I am still not liberated from the cage of birth. Born and born again, driven by karma, may I be liberated from this evil cycle of birth.' This is a brief history of the great U Yukpa meeting Sakya Pandita (the wise one). The teachings of Je Tsongkhapa, written by the monastic Sodnam Palden who upholds the Sutras, in order to refresh his memory. The matter is this: The great Sakya Pandita has an amazing liberation, the wise expect the wise to be the best student. When sent to destroy other sects, he abandoned his own guru's sect with his own wisdom, and always served the Dharma King, the Lord of Dharma. Such wonderful stories existed in the past, but now it is also heard that evil gurus are abandoned from the outside by intelligent students.' This is a transitional verse. The above is the answer to the second question. Third question: Some say that to obtain the title of Pandita (wise one), one must be proficient in grammar such as 'Kalapa' and 'Chandrapa,' otherwise the title of Pandita cannot be granted. The answer to this is: Whoever says such a thing, even if he claims to be wise, is very careless. The reason is that in Chinese, Pandita (wise one) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being proficient in language, one can be labeled with many such names. The great Sakya Paṇḍita (Sa-skya Paṇḍita, a famous scholar of the Sakya school) clearly explained this in works such as 'Entrance to the Wise' (mkhas pa 'jug pa'i sgo). As it is said: 'A wise person is considered to be one who truly understands all knowledge.' 'Understanding the meaning of specialized studies can also be called wisdom.' In the commentary, it says: 'What is a wise person?' 'It is one who knows all knowledge without distortion.' Furthermore, one who knows what has been learned can also be given the name of wise person. Therefore, whether it is a Mahāpaṇḍita (mahāpaṇḍita, great scholar) of crafts or a great scholar of crafts, or a Mahāpaṇḍita of medicine or a great scholar of medicine, similarly, whether it is grammar, logic, or inner meaning, etc., whether one is proficient in any aspect of knowledge, one can be called a wise person or a Paṇḍita in that field. How could it be possible that one cannot obtain the title of Paṇḍita simply because one is not proficient in grammar? Therefore, one who is called a bilingual translator must have a thorough study of grammar. 'Although endowed with vast intelligence, if one treats the meaning of the scriptures carelessly, wouldn't other wise people with discerning intellect be ashamed if they spoke like that?' This is also an appropriate saying. The above is the answer to the third question, The answers to all the questions have been completely explained. Thus, the answers to the questions asked properly by a learned, intelligent, and impartial person were composed by me, Ngag-dbang Kun-dga' Bsod-nams (Ngag-dbang Kun-dga' Bsod-nams), a mantra holder Vajradhara (sngags 'chang rdo rje 'dzin, mantra holder, Vajrayana practitioner) residing in Sakya. Nowadays, some who are deluded by false ideas and boast of being wise, with harsh words like a red wind stealing the glory of others, attempt to defile the flawless moon and clear water. I feel sad whenever I think of this situation. Therefore, separating those who follow evil practices, like separating salt water mixed with water that has eight qualities, is the conduct of the wise. Therefore, who would find fault with this book? Alas! All my benefits in this life and the next come from the infallible supreme Guru, and I have no hope in anything else. With this sincere devotion, may all my wishes be effortlessly and spontaneously fulfilled!' This work, called 'Dispelling the Darkness of the Mind' (yid kyi mun sel), was written in response to the proper questions asked by Lama Jodanpa Mangthos Shenyingpa (bla ma jo gdan pa mang thos bshes gnyen pa), by Ngag-dbang Kun-dga' Bsod-nams Grags-pa rGyal-mtshan dPal bZang-po, a Sakya mantra holder born from the teachings of the Lord Manjushri (jam pa'i dbyangs sku mched, emanation of Manjushri) and Gyalwa Musachenpo (rgyal ba mus pa chen po). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
