In the Dharma practices accustomed to the middle path, may I attain definitive understanding that is repeatedly mixed. Having listened extensively in the assembly of wise scholars, may I now bestow it upon the assembly of disciples. All dharmas, all pairs in between, severance and non-severance, and the subsequent guidance of the end. Subduing the army of knowing demons, the assembly of armies. May the stream of wisdom of the Subduer of the Powerful One flow continuously. In a life of leisure and abundance, may I learn immeasurable sound measures. Even if learned, may I abandon the banner of pride. From abandonment, may I understand crafts and technology. With perfect wisdom, may I practice medicine. As a result of practice, may I be skilled in inner knowledge. At the time of supreme accomplishment. Immeasurably auspicious, may I be delighted and satisfied with great bliss. May excellent treatises appear before me. Glorious Sakya, supremely victorious Ananda, Kunga. Offering, offering to the Three Jewels, striving diligently. From here, these three shlokas are ornaments of natural description. Whoever speaks, wherever that person is from. I, the Sakya, have gained victory in all aspects. No one opposes my words. At that time, my voice is pleasing to the ears of all. In the past, the scholars of the snowy mountains. Were familiar with and attached to poetry and Dharma practices. Merely by looking, one could become a teacher. The records were complete and accurately arranged. Therefore, I initiated with compassion. I made a wish that it would benefit all beings. In the future, everyone will know and become teachers. Having abandoned miserliness, I have clearly recorded it. From that, the guidance of combining the beginning and the end. May all beings, through the virtue that arises. Enter the great palace of omniscient liberation. In the supreme excellent palace, may I experience the manifestation of great bliss. May I now attain the union of the two bodies. This treatise on sound ornamentation, called 'The Delightful Sound,' is the heart's desire of the wise and the necklace of the intelligent. For all the pinnacles of terminology, such as phonetics, poetry, nomenclature, and drama. The light of wisdom shines everywhere, and furthermore, for all the teachings, including the Tripitaka and the oral instructions. The unparalleled great scholar, the esteemed great pandita of Narthang, Samghasri, wrote 'The Mirror of Clear Sound Ornamentation,' and as it is said, it is written in concise and easily understandable language. The master of the three realms, the esteemed Sakya great Jampaiyang Sonam Wangpo, and the father Spaspa'i Sangye Ngagchang Drakpa Lodro, the embodiment of the Buddhas of the three times, Muchen Khordom Sangye Gyaltsen, and others. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, who place the lotus feet of the infallible holy ones as the crown jewel on my head, the Sakya Pandit scholar of the Sakya clan, the mantra holder Ngawang Kunga Sonam Drakpa Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo, initiated this with pure intention. Now, in this final degenerate age, people are perfunctory even with minor Dharma activities. They disregard treatises that could aid scholars, discarding them like grass at a crossroads, which I cannot bear. I thought, 'If it could benefit even one intelligent, discerning, and inquisitive person.' Therefore, in the Wood Dog year (Tibetan calendar), on the second joyful day of the first month's white side, in the Bright Hall of the four-story Ladrang of the glorious Sakya Monastery, it was written by my close Gelong (monk) Dorje Gyaltsen, a Samaya Vajradhara who is proficient in many scriptures and speaks extensively on both Sutra and Tantra, Samten Gyatso. By the merit of this composition, may we, teachers and disciples, have complete lives and accomplish all our goals. May we be reborn together in Sukhavati in the next life, and until the end of samsara, may the Sakya teachings flourish! May auspiciousness increase! 'Beautiful and supreme, virtuous and complete, auspicious, supreme accomplishment, supreme and beautiful, virtuous, virtuous! Virtuous accomplishment supreme, virtuous beautiful supreme supreme accomplishment virtuous auspicious, virtuous! Supreme beautiful, accomplishment supreme virtuous. Virtuous, if the verse cycles back and forth,' it is said to be an example of 'a white bird circling halfway.' Virtuous auspicious supreme, you supreme auspicious virtuous virtuous virtuous you supreme supreme you virtuous auspicious supreme you virtuous auspicious virtuous you supreme supreme auspicious virtuous virtuous auspicious supreme you both are one form, circling completely. This is an example. May you grant me the flower of hearing the Dharma, and I offer you the flower of faith, and the flower of practice. I respectfully offer the flower of devotion. This is an example of an elephant's gait. According to the wishes of Khenchen Apé Rinpoche, Guru (my humble term for the teacher) provided the service. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
