'Following the Precious Treasure of Well-Spoken Words: A Mirror Clarifying What to Adopt and Abandon' by the Glorious Sakya Paṇḍita Chapter One: Revealing the Nature of Evil People 'Following the Precious Treasure of Well-Spoken Words: A Mirror Clarifying What to Adopt and Abandon' by the Glorious Sakya Paṇḍita Sanskrit: Śrīvanabhumipandukapandita anandadhvaja śrībhadra cabajra ācārya mahāguru kṛṣṇiyenamaḥ Tibetan: Homage to the Glorious Sakya Paṇḍita and the three great gurus, the Vajra Acharya. Having comprehended all knowledge, he is the ornament of all scholars in the world; The Sakya ruler prostrates at his feet, he is the lord of both Dharma and politics in the world; At that time, there was a saying 'Buddha has descended upon the earth,' widely circulated in the world; The incomparable Sakya Paṇḍita, the ornament of the world, is worthy of praise. His emanation is the mantra-holding Dharma Lord, Ngag gi Wangpo Kunga Rinchen; And the renowned Wangpo, his spiritual son; Muschen Dorje Chang, I bow to them with my head. The root and lineage gurus of incomparable kindness, the assembly of yidam deities who grant supreme siddhis, The Dharma protectors who dispel all obstacles, I respectfully bow and pray for protection until enlightenment. Like the second Buddha, Sakya Paṇḍita, his well-spoken words of the precious treasure, Is the supreme treatise following the treasure, I will expound here the Mirror Clarifying What to Adopt and Abandon. Knowing the world but not being tainted by the faults of the world, like a pure lotus, I pay homage to those supreme beings, for those who desire to abandon evil deeds and desire to practice virtuous deeds, I will briefly explain this Mirror Clarifying What to Adopt and Abandon. Good human ethics are the foundation of the supreme Dharma. Having the foundation and practicing Dharma, one will go from happiness to happiness. Evil deeds are the nature of fools, virtuous deeds are the actions of the wise, knowing worldly treatises and abiding in Dharma is the human body. Evil people are inclined to sin, ungrateful, abandoning shame as if it were an enemy, doing anything to achieve their own interests. Evil people are surrounded by evil friends, abusing all kinds of evil deeds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once possessed by evil, one cannot escape the manipulation of time, blaming misfortune on bad luck. Regarding the evil deeds of others, the wicked flock like flies to filth, even escalating to commit various evil acts. For a mere morsel of food and drink, they abandon morality and shame, like flies chasing after unclean things, the wicked always surround the wicked. Slight setbacks or gains in wealth lead to dejection or arrogance. Intimidation brings submission, compliance brings arrogance, such is the nature of the wicked. They sow discord, contend over taxes, alienate close ones, and embellish enemies. Deceit, greed, hatred, theft, robbery, as well as lies and slander, are the deeds of the wicked. Outwardly friends, inwardly enemies, those who rely on them will suffer, they despise the weak, envy the strong, compete with equals, and betrayal is the mark of the wicked. When the wicked need help, they act as if you are indispensable. Once they no longer need your help, even if you were once a benefactor, they will discard you like a root. Never expect any good from the hands of the wicked, they will use all sorts of means and tricks to deceive you, even deceiving their own father. Even if the wicked become officials, there will be no public benefit, they will divide from internal and external affairs, etc., in various ways, and if it benefits them, they will even kill their own mother. The wicked and poisonous snakes are the same, relying on them brings nothing but destruction, it is impossible to obtain any benefit, so do not rely on them even for a moment. The first chapter of 'The Mirror of Clear Discrimination of Acceptance and Rejection', revealing the nature of the wicked, ends. Chapter Two: The Nature of the Fool Shameless fools are always self-centered, unable to see a 'khal' (unit of measurement, approximately one cubic meter) of goods, but only seeing a 'bre' (unit of capacity) of quantity. To obtain disputed benefits, they are willing to bear sin and infamy. They do not understand their own merits, but become angry with those who point out their merits. Fools always trust flattering and sycophantic words. Fools do not see what is truly needed, but waste on what is not needed. They only know the suffering of accumulation, but never experience the joy of use. Fools know no shame, and always try to elevate themselves through base means. Their understanding is poor, but their desires are great, and everything they do is for deception. They cannot correctly distinguish between truth and falsehood, nor do they speak the truth to others, always self-righteously gaining temporary victories, such is the nature of fools. They do not associate with virtuous people, nor do they hear excellent treatises, but instead take pride in and praise those things that should be shameful. They regard non-virtues as virtues, and non-saints as saints, fools always invert right and wrong.
