The Recitation Manual, "Sky Treasure". The Recitation Manual, "Sky Treasure". The profound Dharma, the recitation manual of the Wrathful Lotus, named "Sky Treasure," is present. I prostrate and take refuge in the Guru and the powerful Lotus, who are inseparable. From the midst of the blazing flames of the eon's fire, with a supremely terrifying form and the laughter of Vajra, causing the life essence of the unsubdued demon hordes to explode, I pay homage to the King of Wrathful Ones, Vajra Garland of Skulls. His secret body, speech, and mind, the deity, mantra, and great bliss, manifesting in various ways, are the fruits of accomplishing both benefits. The means of swiftly accomplishing this without effort is the recitation manual that illuminates with a thousand lights. Now, I will explain this, dispelling the darkness of ignorance. May a few with wisdom and diligence, with the vast eye of intelligence, now enjoy the glorious feast of supreme and common attainments. If one wishes to engage in the recitation and practice of the wrathful Guru, one must fully receive the empowerment, instructions, transmission, and oral teachings of this first of the three stages of preliminary, main, and subsequent practices. In a secluded place free from external and internal disturbances, on an auspicious day with favorable astrological conjunctions, in front of the representations of body, speech, and mind of the general Three Roots and the specific deity, if it is a previously tamed practice place or monastery, it is not necessary to prepare specially, and there is no obstacle. Otherwise, one must examine the ground, excavate, and purify it, and arrange the mandala according to the scriptures, either a colored sand mandala or a painted cloth mandala. If one is unable to do so, then on top of a pile of grains corresponding to the number of deities, on a throne, place a practice torma in the shape of a blazing jewel, decorated as well as possible, and erect the main deity's chakra upon it, with the essence mantra written in gold on the back, covered with a red and black silk tent. To the right and left, arrange the medicinal substances and rakta, starting from the northeast and proceeding clockwise, with the offerings of two waters in front, and the tormas of the three: demons, tsen, and nagas, and any other Dharma protectors one practices, arranging them beautifully. Facing west, draw a white swastika under the seat. Depending on the length of the retreat, determine the duration, and except for necessary external and internal activities such as urination, defecation, and correspondence, all should be abandoned, especially the crucial guidance on inhalation and exhalation.

One should make an effort to keep these visualizations in mind, starting with oneself, beginning from the evening session. Visualize the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowments, impermanence of death, infallibility of karma, refuge and bodhicitta for seeking liberation, the Vajrasattva mantra for purifying obscurations, the mandala offering for accumulating merit, Guru Yoga and lineage prayers, etc., making sure they are integrated with one's own mindstream. Then, offer a clean torma to the white-side earth deities, entrusting them with the task of accomplishing activities without obstacles. Offer ransom tormas and changbu (alcohol offerings) to the black-side obstructing forces, issuing commands and setting boundaries. Then, as described in the sadhana text "Completely Victorious in the Battle Against the Four Maras" for the longevity practice, if desired, one can set up nameplates for the Four Great Kings, offer tormas, and entrust them with the task of accomplishing activities. Even if this cannot be done, consecrate the images of the outer gate Hayagriva and the inner gate Amrita Kundali, offering wisdom generation and completion tormas, and entrusting them with the powerful activity of protection and boundaries. Then, after completing the refuge, bodhicitta, offerings, blessings, and descents in the main practice section of the ritual text, visualize oneself and the front deity as being in the same mandala, closely connected like flames adhering to a mountain. From the invocation onwards, perform the practice until the recitation is completed. Bless the mala and recite twenty-one or seven times, or whatever is feasible, including the clear sound mantra and the essence of dependent origination. Visualize oneself as the wrathful Padmakara, wearing golden vajra armor, with the mesh of the armor filled with iron scorpions. Visualize within the golden stupa vase at the heart, above the sun disc at the heart of Vajrapani, the heart mantra syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽) appearing as red, starting from the front and rotating clockwise. Visualize the mantra syllables Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम् आः हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 嗡啊吽), Ar tsik ne tsik na mo bhagavate hūṃ phaṭ (Tibetan: ཨརྩིག་ནེརྩིག་ན་མོ་བྷ་ག་ཝ་ཏེ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ༔, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal Chinese meaning:) etc., standing upright and rotating like a windmill, accompanied by their own sound. The red garland of light on which the mantra syllables rest rotates counterclockwise. From these mantra syllables, radiate immeasurable light, stimulating the mindstreams of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions, and visualize them residing in the sky in front. By offering them offerings, invoke all their compassion, power, and blessings in the form of light, which dissolves into oneself and the front deity, thereby greatly enhancing radiance and power.
