Vase of Nectar for Pouring Water. Vase of Nectar for Pouring Water. Hrāṃ. From the Great Compassionate One, Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance: The Vase of Nectar for Pouring Water. Homage to the Noble One who completely illuminates all the darkness of ignorance! For the sake of those who in the future wish to increase the accumulation of the two accumulations and purify the two obscurations, this offering of the torma is explained in terms of three aspects: the preliminary, the main part, and the conclusion. First, the preliminary has four parts: the person, the substance, the vessel, and the time. Samaya! Gya Gya Gya! First, the person who practices this dharma is: a fully ordained monk or nun who has gone forth from home to homelessness, a novice monk or nun, a lay practitioner, male or female, who has entered the teachings, and a lay practitioner who observes celibacy, etc., who possesses a pure and virtuous intention and who is a person of great aspiration who wishes to perfect the two accumulations, should engage in it with diligence. Second, the substances are the three white and three sweet substances, as well as collections of grains, flowers, and torma dough, etc., excluding meat, blood, garlic, onions, radishes, poisons, and turnips. The substances for the torma should be accumulated as much as possible, and should be pure and free from impurities, etc., and should be done in accordance with the rules. Even if it is small, one should do one's best and offer the best of what one has. Third, the vessel is best if it is a golden, silver, or conch shell cup; the middle is a copper, brass, or wooden tray; the worst is an earthenware or wooden vessel. One should accumulate vessels that are free from holes, cracks, rust, etc., and that are suitable for enjoyment. The larger the vessel, the greater the merit, and one should strive to prepare vessels that can hold a bre, a bushel, etc. Fourth, the time is either the time of dawn before one has eaten, or the auspicious time of sunrise, or the evening or the strong twilight. At dawn, the accumulations are completed; at sunrise, auspiciousness, glory, and wealth increase; in the evening and at strong twilight, one averts one's own adverse conditions, and it is very beneficial because it prevents harm to beings caused by the eight classes of spirits and non-humans. Samaya! Gya Gya Gya! Second, the main part has two parts: the preliminary and the main part. First, the preliminary has four parts: taking refuge, generating bodhicitta, visualizing oneself as the deity, and the order of blessing the torma substances.

Oṃ! Samaya! Gya Gya Gya! First, taking refuge: In the sky directly in front at the level of the crown of the head, the refuge, the precious Three Jewels, are vividly and clearly visualized as if actually present. With unwavering devotion, I take refuge. Namo! Lama Sangye Rinpoche! Peaceful, free from attachment, the Tripitaka, the sacred Dharma! Supreme among assemblies, the noble non-returner! With great respect from the three doors, I go for refuge! I take refuge three times. Second, generating bodhicitta: From the ocean of suffering of samsara, wishing to liberate all sentient beings of the six realms, generating the mind of love like a mother cherishing her only child. Kye! Mother beings of the three realms and six realms! In order to liberate them from the ocean of suffering of samsara, generating the supreme and excellent mind of bodhicitta, I engage in the profound activity of offering and giving. Recite three times or as much as possible. Third, visualizing oneself as the deity: Instantly thinking that all phenomena are non-existent and empty, from within emptiness, like a rainbow arising in the empty sky, the essence of one's own mind, the letter Hrīḥ (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:Hrīḥ), possessing length, a dot, and power, is clearly visualized. Radiating various rays of light, offering pleasing offerings to the Buddhas, purifying the karmic obscurations of sentient beings, gathering all the blessings of the body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas, dissolving into Hrīḥ (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:Hrīḥ), completely transforming, from which arises the noble Avalokiteśvara Khasarpani, his body color white like the sun rising on a mountain of conch shells, one face and two arms, the right hand holding a vase from which nectar flows, and the left hand holding a crystal rosary at his heart, seated in the vajra posture, the complete enjoyment body, adorned with silks and various jewels, in the midst of radiating various rays of light, the samaya and wisdom beings inseparably and vividly, clearly, and distinctly abiding. At his heart, in the center of a full moon disc, the seed syllable Hrīḥ (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:Hrīḥ), white, surrounded by the six-syllable mantra that purifies the suffering of the six realms, rotating clockwise with its own sound, without distraction in samsara, focusing the mind one-pointedly, reciting Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ (藏文:ཨཱོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:ॐ मणि पद्मे हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ) hundreds or thousands of times or as appropriate, and saying this: Hūṃ!
