When the pure realm appears, the appearance of the spontaneously manifested form body directly arises, and all appearances of the six realms of existence downwards also appear as various forms and sounds, but without any attachment. Thus, all appearances have eight ways of arising: appearing like compassion, the boundary between samsara and nirvana is not interrupted; appearing like light, all appearances are clear within; appearing like the body, awareness does not scatter outwards; appearing like wisdom, all appearances are transparent; appearing like non-duality, one's own awareness abides in one-pointedness; appearing like the exhaustion of extremes, it does not abide in any extreme; appearing like the impure door of existence, the source of existence does not cease; appearing like the pure door of wisdom, the nature of reality is connected like mother and child. Furthermore, at that time, the senses and mind become workable, gaining control over wisdom, as well as the pure vision of wisdom, seeing the nature of reality without distortion, and the six kinds of direct perception of seeing the Buddha's vision without distortion, the six sets of six arise. Furthermore, the nine direct perceptions of body, speech, and mind arise in an instant: the three of the body are, upwards, knowing the dharmakaya to be unborn, in the middle, knowing the sambhogakaya mandala to be self-illuminating, and downwards, knowing the nirmanakaya and the birthplaces of the six realms. The three of speech are: upwards, knowing the speech of the dharmakaya to be the great inexpressible, in the middle, knowing the speech of the sambhogakaya to be the great clear radiance, and downwards, knowing the speech of the nirmanakaya to be the various sounds of the six realms. Thus, understanding the way things exist in their nature arises from mindfulness: by remembering the lama, one gains control over the profound instructions; by remembering the instructions, one gains control over the self-appearing nature of reality in the bardo; by remembering the view, one firmly decides on unwavering confidence; by remembering meditation, one abides in the natural samadhi of five days; by remembering conduct, one engages in pure wisdom as if meeting an old acquaintance; by remembering the deity, one is liberated in the mandala of self-appearing clear light; by remembering the birthplace, one breathes one's last breath in the pure land of the spontaneously manifested form body. Thereafter, having gained control over the unfailing dharani and samadhi, one will definitely not fall back into samsara. Thereafter, when confidence in spontaneous accomplishment is gained, eight ways of dissolution will occur, namely, the previous ways of outward appearance.

The so-called "eight" means to dissolve into: Compassion dissolves into compassion, like the gathering of the setting sun's rays; wisdom dissolves into wisdom, like a child entering its mother's embrace; light dissolves into light, like a rainbow disappearing into the sky; body dissolves into body, like the image of a body inside a vase; non-duality dissolves into non-duality, like a river merging into a river; liberation dissolves into liberation, like the space inside a broken vase merging into space; the impure appearances of the six realms of samsara dissolve into the gate of pure wisdom, like gathering the ropes of a tent; the gate of pure wisdom, the appearances of the Nirmanakaya and Sambhogakaya, dissolve into the Dharmakaya, the Great Primordial Purity, like a lion occupying a snow mountain; at that time, all forms are called Nirvana, no longer appearing outwardly, but with subtle appearances inwardly, attaining Buddhahood in the primordial ground, never regressing after enlightenment, abiding in the realization of the three bodies inseparable. Those of the lowest faculties, not finding confidence in liberation here, are born in the realm of the Svabhavikakaya through the blessings of the truth of Dharma-nature; most beings will experience the appearances of the Bardo of Existence. Fourth, the instruction on the continuation of good and bad karma in the Bardo of Existence, like a fox entering a broken canal: Thus, after the appearances of spontaneous accomplishment have ceased, the Bardo of Existence is like a dream, with complete faculties, endowed with magical powers, wandering everywhere and full of fear; during the Bardo, the first half manifests the forms and habits of the previous life, and the second half manifests the forms and appearances of the next birth; if reborn in the realms of gods and humans, there will be a fathom-long white light, with the head held upwards; if reborn in the realms of Asuras and animals, there will be a yellow light, with the head looking sideways; if reborn in the realms of hells and pretas, there will be blackness, with the head looking downwards, and the thought of going. Also, when entering each place of birth: temples and gardens are the places of birth for gods; wheels of light are for Asuras; a misty sky, the size of a human body; among many people, a precious human body; earth caves and huts are for animals; empty valleys and dilapidated caves are for pretas; dark, heavy rain is the place of birth for hells; thick darkness and blizzards.
