NARO32, Teachings of Master Naropa, Scroll of the Goddess of the Smoke Offering of the Dharma Protector. 1-4-60a Scroll of the Goddess of the Smoke Offering of the Dharma Protector. Scroll of the Goddess of the Smoke Offering of the Dharma Protector. In Sanskrit: Śrīyadevīmahākālasādhanopika. In Tibetan: Homage to the Auspicious Black Mother! A yogi who wishes to practice the Auspicious Black Mother should prepare abundant offerings in a suitable place, and then go to a cemetery, under a solitary tree, in a bell tower, in an empty room, or in a secluded place. First, offer tormas to all the worldly gods and demons, including the ten directional protectors, and generously offer golden drinks. Then, create an 'E' mandala with sides and height of one cubit each. Make three tiers on it, with the middle tier in the shape of three crescent moons, and the bottom tier in the shape of three triangles. Place a severed skull or any skull on each triangle. Cover the skulls so they are not visible. Inside the skull, place a skull facing down, symbolizing the city of Yama, the Lord of Death. Inside the skull, write the black Tibetan letter 'ཡ' (ya) with charcoal. On the outside of the skull, write the red letter 'མ' (ma) with human blood. The three crescent moons should also be painted red. The first triangle should be painted with colors. If it is not painted well, the following faults will occur: if the color is too thick, the teacher and students will get many diseases; if the color is too thin, wealth will be lost; if it is tilted, there will be conflict in the country; if it is interrupted, the teacher and students will die quickly. Therefore, the lines should be drawn with a medium-sized bamboo pen, circling from right to left. The inclination of the colors should be twice the triangle. The inner triangle should be black, and the outer triangle should be red. At each apex of the inner triangle, draw an incomplete vajra. Mix ashes and dried blood, and write the seed syllable of the mantra 'ཧཱུྃ' (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) in the center of the 'E'. At the three inner corners, write the life essence of all the mothers, the Tibetan letter 'བྷྱོ' (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्यो, Sanskrit Romanization: bhyo, Chinese literal meaning: bhyaḥ). Then, with the juice of the rhododendron, the ashes of the cemetery, the blood of a raw sheep, and the blood of a black crow, mix these equal parts, grind them into a fine powder, mix with paint, draw the image of the auspicious goddess on the cloth of the cemetery, place it in the center of the 'E' mandala, and then offer incense and other items. 1-4-61a --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Accumulate the five offerings and present them. First, visualize yourself as the goddess of vows. First, in the center of the yogi's heart, visualize a four-petaled or eight-petaled lotus with a pistil. In the center of that lotus's pistil, visualize the letter ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) with a halo, radiating light. [Or, visualize a white བཾ་ (Tibetan: བཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वं, Sanskrit Romanization: vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) with a bird on top, and a red རཾ་ (Tibetan: རཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: रं, Sanskrit Romanization: raṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) on top of that, and a ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) with nada. The nada emits light, transforming the ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) into red, gradually igniting it with fire, gradually burning it with fire. Or, doing it in the usual way is also fine.] Or, the ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) that was previously just a name transforms into the ash སཾ་ (Tibetan: སཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सं, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable), from which descends a white vase filled with nectar, becoming stable and firm, and you can also add the moon, etc. Visualize that the fire burns my body of conceptual thoughts, turning it to ashes. Then, in the center of the ashes, with a peaceful mind, visualize: what was previously located in the pistil of the lotus is the nature of life, the letter ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable). In its center, visualize the letter བཾ་ (Tibetan: བཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वं, Sanskrit Romanization: vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable). Then, visualize the བཾ་ (Tibetan: བཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वं, Sanskrit Romanization: vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) completely transforming, from which flows a stream of nectar. Then, from the letter ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable), which was previously described as life, a stream of nectar descends and nourishes it, making it the most supreme of all letters, called the ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) of life. That water makes it even more stable and firm, making it radiant, and visualize it as the moon, snow, milk, kuta, white clouds, and conch. Then, recite the mantra of the name of the auspicious goddess: 'Om Mahakala Devi Karali Bigrin De Kalaratri Chandarupini Hum Phet'. Through recitation, from the seed syllable Om of the mantra, arise the deity, transforming into the form of the great auspicious goddess and visualize: body color black, as black as black clouds and bees, extremely terrifying, possessing a body of bones, one face, four arms, and two legs. The first right hand holds a sword, the lower hand holds a skull cup filled with red blood, the mouth is open. The first left hand holds Shakti, the lower hand holds a trident, with silk hanging from the neck. The mouth bites into an unrotted corpse, revealing four fangs. The three eyes are blood-red, looking upwards. The hair is standing up, the braids are coiled to the left. The hair is adorned with snakes and skull rosaries. The right earring is a snake, with bells hanging from the neck. The left earring is the red mane of a lion. Black silk hangs behind both ears. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
