Collection of Teachings by Master Naropa NARO24 The King of Sky Vajra Scrolls: Dharmata, Unborn The King of Sky Vajra Scrolls: Dharmata, Unborn The King of Sky Vajra Scrolls: Dharmata, Unborn. The instructions of Oddiyana (Udyana, the birthplace of Padmasambhava), the very essence of all Dakinis (female deities), the essential advice that gathers the heart of all tantras, like precious gold being refined. This is the teaching of a Chakravartin (wheel-turning king), with nine seals of authorization. In order not to cause harm to others, in order to accomplish the perfection of benefit. For the King of Dharmata, Unborn, there are instructions for nine seals. In order to conquer the enemy of afflictions, in order to accomplish the perfection of benefiting others. (ཀ) Because form is without inherent existence, it is the appearance of one's own mind, so sealing with Vairochana (རྣམ་པར་སྣང་མཛད།), is great bliss. (ཁ) Because clinging is the nature of great bliss, so with the seal of Akshobhya (མི་བསྐྱོད་པ།). (ག) Because the mind has no distinction between self-awareness and other-awareness, not thinking of anything, is great bliss spontaneously accomplished, inconceivable, so with the seal of Vajrasattva (རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ།). (ང) Because what is meditated upon, the act of meditating, and the meditator are of one taste, so with the seal of non-duality. (ཅ) Because the actual practice of union and the main practice are of one taste, so with the seal of equal taste, great bliss. (ཆ) Because attachment, non-attachment, and the state in between are of equal taste, appearance and emptiness are inseparable, so with the seal of inseparable appearance and emptiness. (ཇ) Because virtue, non-virtue, and neutrality are of one taste in dharmata, so with the seal of one taste of dharmata. (ཉ) Because samsara and nirvana are non-dual, merging into one taste in the state of luminosity (འོད་གསལ།), so with the seal of one taste of luminosity. (ཏ) Because permanence and change, vessel and essence, are all the play of Heruka (ཧེ་རུ་ཀ།), so with the seal of play. With the nine seals, seal all of vessel and essence with the seal of non-dual bliss and emptiness. (ཀ) To whatever objects, gathering the mind from all things, abiding in an immovable state, is it the form seen by the eye? [From the Guru (possibly referring to Guru Yoga): The eye does not grasp form, nor does the ear grasp sound. The tongue does not perceive taste, nor does the nose grasp smell. The aggregate of the body has no substance, it is the form of great bliss.] Abiding in the sound of the ear? Abiding in the smell of the nose? Abiding in the taste of the tongue? Abiding in the touch of the body? Abiding in the dharmas of the mind? The wisdom of knowing is free from conceptualization. The arising and ceasing of thoughts, experienced through self-aware awareness, therefore, the state free from conceptualization is manifestly realized. From that meaning free from conceptualization, relying on the felt happiness, practice like a messenger. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What will it become? That which is initially without conceptualization, is called 'Joy'. The second stage of experiencing happiness in non-conceptualization is called 'Supreme Joy'. That is the joy of the body, arising from a pleasing object. The third state of non-conceptualization is called 'Joy of Separation', which is the direct joy of the mind. When experience is clear and free from the defilement of subject and object, that arising awareness is called 'Great Bliss'. (kha) If one knows and cultivates the Great Bliss in which this world and the other world are equal, then there is no need to seek separate instructions at the time of death. If one knows the nature of mind to be the Dharmakaya (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), then there is no need to newly create the cause for attaining the fruit. If one knows that the nature of mind has no increase or decrease, then even if meditation is lost, there is no need to seek it again. If one knows that good deeds and bad deeds are accidental, then even if vows are broken, confession itself is the supreme method. What appears is real, what is named is non-existent, what is sought is a mistake, and what is thought is distant. For any object, when non-conceptual clarity arises, not thinking about it at all is practicing emptiness. When someone is taught to practice non-duality, if they have not experienced non-duality, then whatever is taught is just an empty name. (ga) From the ocean of the mind's own luminosity, accidental waves arise. From the emptiness of the mind's sky, accidental clouds appear. Meditate on that which cannot be meditated upon, the spontaneously accomplished. In the experience of the king of meditation, the defilement of conceptual thought is naturally purified. What is seen directly with valid perception, the true object of knowledge is clear. When all conceptual thoughts are stopped, and when all obscurations are abandoned, abide in the nature of non-conceptual wisdom. Meditating on that which cannot be meditated upon is itself the spontaneously accomplished meditation. In the state of non-conceptualization, one should not attach to the name 'non-conceptual'. For that which is primordially non-dual, one should not think 'non-dual'. For the Great Bliss that is free from fabrication, thinking 'free from' is also a mistake. For the experience of luminous purity, one should not boast 'pure'. When abiding without a boastful mind, conceptual thoughts naturally cease. What is called Dharma (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and person, and self, are the very essence of conceptual thought. If one knows that the nature of conceptual thought is luminosity, then it will cease immediately. (nga) The inner contemplation of a yogi cannot be experienced outside of the mind. For the appearing samsara (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and nirvana (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), there is neither negation nor affirmation. If one knows that mind is wisdom, then there is no need to indicate nirvana.
