Abridged Medicine Buddha Ritual - Nectar Vase. Abridged Medicine Buddha Ritual - Nectar Vase. Bhaiṣajye guru sūtra vidhi saṃgrahā amṛtasya kumbha bhadra viharati sma. The Abridged Medicine Buddha Ritual, called Nectar Vase, is hereby presented. Homage to the Guru Manjushri! Merely hearing your name eliminates the suffering and its causes of sentient beings in samsara, and leads them to the supreme perfect enlightenment. I prostrate to the Seven Sugatas with the crest of Shakya. This is the sutra that teaches the prayers of the Seven Sugatas. The ritual was well composed by the great abbot Shantarakshita. From which, the essence is extracted, and for the sake of easy practice, it is composed into verses with clear words. Here, wishing to practice the special extensive ritual of the prayers of the Seven Sugatas, first, one who abides in the vows of purification, having bathed and being clean, should clean the room and on the platform where flowers and incense are spread, place the images of the Eight Sugatas, or in front of the scripture of the Medicine Sutra, or draw a mandala of the palace and place the mandala of the deity there, or arrange the mandala of varying complexity as appropriate, only as the seat of the deity. In front of it, arrange the main offerings, such as lamps and forty-nine flags of various colors, or more extensively, arrange flags equal to the number of deities, etc., as much as possible. Furthermore, adorn with pleasing actual offerings such as sensual objects, musical instruments, umbrellas, victory banners, clothes, seven precious things, eight auspicious symbols, etc. If one desires vase bathing, then prepare a vase filled with fragrant water and complete with implements, and a mirror and clothes for bathing the image. Also prepare tormas etc. to be offered to the Dharma protectors and the local deities. In short, in the center, place the images of the Buddha, such as Shakyamuni and the Medicine Buddha, and the holy images of Bodhisattvas such as Manjushri, and the scriptures such as the Medicine Sutra. Then, surround it with as many offerings as possible, such as sensual objects, and abide with the mind of great vehicle bodhicitta, and thus engage in practice. First, the refuge: Please, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, consider me. From this time onwards, until I reach the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in the Bhagavan Buddha.

皈依。如来之法身寂灭无上，各自以自之觉性而皈依。十方之大菩萨圣者不退转之僧伽，我皈依。三遍。忏悔罪业：诸佛菩萨垂念我。我等自此时起乃至证得菩提果之间，于无始无终之轮回中流转之时，我所造作之罪业不善之业，以及令他人造作，和随喜他人造作，所有这些我皆在诸佛菩萨面前一一忏悔。三遍。献上自身：诸佛菩萨垂念我。我等自此时起乃至证得菩提果之间，我将自身于一切时中献与诸佛菩萨。诸佛菩萨为了慈悲我，请您们接受我。三遍。发菩提心：诸佛菩萨垂念我。我等自此时起乃至证得菩提果之间，远离一切事物，完全舍弃五蕴、十八界、十二处以及能取所取，诸法无我平等性之故，自心本初不生空性之自性中，如诸佛世尊发菩提心一般，我亦如是发心。此以上是毗卢遮那佛现证的词句注释。念诵三遍后，尽力安住于空性中。对如是不了悟之众生生起大悲心，为了所有众生的利益，我要证得圆满佛果。为此，我将安住于对八位世尊善逝及其眷属之天众进行顶礼供养、劝请发心等道次第中。三遍念诵世俗菩提心后，修持慈悲喜舍四无量心等为前行。之后是仪轨的正行。

I take refuge. I take refuge in the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata, which is peaceful and unsurpassed, each with its own awareness. I take refuge in the great Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, the noble Sangha of non-retrogression. Three times. Confession of sins: All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, please be mindful of me. From this time onwards, until I reach the essence of enlightenment, when I wander in the beginningless and endless cycle of existence, all the sins and non-virtuous deeds that I have committed, and caused others to commit, and rejoiced in, all these I confess individually before all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Three times. Offering myself: All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, please be mindful of me. From this time onwards, until I reach the essence of enlightenment, I offer myself to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas at all times. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, for the sake of your compassion for me, please accept me. Three times. Generating the mind of enlightenment: All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, please be mindful of me. From this time onwards, until I reach the essence of enlightenment, being separated from all things, completely abandoning the five aggregates, the eighteen elements, the twelve sense bases, and the apprehended and the apprehender, because of the equality of the selflessness of phenomena, in the essence of emptiness, the nature of my own mind, which is originally unborn, just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, generated the mind of enlightenment, so do I also generate it. This above is a commentary on the words of the Abhisambodhi of Vairochana. After reciting it three times, abide in emptiness as much as possible. Generate great compassion for sentient beings who do not understand this, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, I will attain perfect Buddhahood. For this purpose, I will abide in the stages of the path, such as prostrating to, making offerings to, and urging the assembly of deities of the eight Sugatas, the Bhagavat, and their retinues to generate the mind of enlightenment. After reciting the conventional Bodhicitta three times, the practice of the four immeasurables, such as all sentient beings having happiness, etc., is the preliminary. Then comes the main part of the ritual.
