The Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo: Teachings on the Intermediate State. The Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo, is present. The Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo, is present. Om Svasti. By the light of the sun of compassion, dispelling the darkness of fear of the lower realms, leading beings to the great path of liberation, to that one, I respectfully bow down. Here, I will briefly explain the teachings on the Bardo. Those beings who are caught in the noose of the Lord of Death, in order to protect them from the fear of the lower realms, it is fine to accomplish it relying on whatever mandala. However, if you wish to relate to that and explain the Bardo teachings, then with a mind of immeasurable great compassion for all sentient beings in general, and especially for the beings of existence who are mainly the object of focus, with a slow and intermittent speech, you should say this: "Hey, son of such and such a family, deceased one, listen without distraction and keep it in mind. That all conditioned phenomena are impermanent and of the nature of change, and especially the life of a person, as it is said in the scriptures, is impermanent even for a moment, that nature has befallen you, so you have reached the end of your life. Now you are temporarily in the Bardo. There, hold the key to the profound instructions. Until the ritual introduction is finished, hold the self-awareness of awareness, rely on this paper with your name and stains, and rest peacefully. Also, in the Bardo, it is important to recognize the Bardo, and it is also important to transform that into the right path. Therefore, the characteristics of the Bardo should be generally explained, and the meaning of the occasion should be explained in detail. Firstly, there are four: the nature of the Bardo, the meaning of the words, the divisions, and the individual ways of taking the path. Firstly, all that appears other than the primordial purity (Tibetan: ཀ་དག་) is the state of the Bardo. However, the appearance of the base as the manifestation of wisdom is the pure Bardo of Dharmata, and the confused appearances gathered by the six realms are the impure Bardo of delusion. Those that arise from the primordial purity, but are not perfected in the realm of the basis of manifestation, the mind with its seeds, is the Bardo. Secondly, the meaning of the words is that it is named from the part between the former and the latter. If we consider the first two Bardos, it is called Bardo because of the part that is thrown by the former and not completed by the latter."

I, if we consider the latter two cases, the Treasury states: "Here, whatever dies and is born, the existence in between arises. Because it has not reached the realm of going, it is called intermediate existence." That is, the state from death here to the formation of the next existence is called Bardo. Thirdly, regarding the classification, the Root Wisdom states: "If divided, there are four types." Therefore, there are four types of Bardos: the Bardo of birth and death or natural Bardo, the Bardo of dying, the Bardo of Dharmata, and the Bardo of becoming. The first is from the formation of birth in the mother's womb until struck by the disease of death. The second is from approaching death until the cessation of inner breath. The third is from the cessation of inner breath until the dissolution of spontaneous appearances. The fourth is from the dissolution of spontaneous appearances until the formation of the next existence. The path-taking of each of the four is explained through two aspects: example and meaning. The example is like cutting doubts in the Bardo of the birth place, like enteringརྒྱཁྲ་ཚང་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning). The meaning is to rely on the noble Lama, and through hearing, thinking, and meditating on the instructions he has given, to diligently strive to cut doubts. Similarly, giving instructions in the Bardo of dying is like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror, which means that the previously familiar instructions clearly emerge in the mind at this time. Trusting in self-appearance in the Bardo of Dharmata is like a child entering the mother's lap, which means that the meaning of the instructions is integrated into experience, so no matter how the appearances of Dharmata arise, there is no fear, but confidence that self-appearance is the play of wisdom. Continuing the karma in the Bardo of becoming is like a fox entering a broken ditch, which means that no matter how deluded appearances and fears arise, one enters the path of pure existence through previous familiarity and the key points of the instructions explained in this way. These are also said to be divided into three levels of liberation according to the order of faculties. Secondly, specifically explaining the points of the present context, mainly considering the latter three Bardos, that is, at the time of birth, death, and transference, the three elements of water, fire, and wind in the body become disordered, and when they no longer serve as the basis for warmth and consciousness, it is the time of cutting off life. Moreover, the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and objects gradually dissolve, but when the basis dissolves, the dependent must dissolve, so mainly speaking of the dissolution of the elements, it is the play of wisdom.
