A brief record of the vows and fundamental principles concerning the meaning of the three aspects of practice: recitation, accomplishment, and activity, for Manjushri Yamantaka, the Subduer of Arrogance. By Rigdzin Gyurme Dorje. Om Siddhi Rastu. Homage to the Lama and the Bhagavan Glorious Lord of the Enemies of Time! Here, I will briefly explain the vows concerning the meaning of the three aspects of practice: recitation, accomplishment, and activity, for Manjushri Yamantaka, the Subduer of Arrogance. As it says in the 'Clarifying the Meaning of the Tantra': "In the yoga of generation and completion stage recitation, when the warmth of empowerment is attained, one should engage in wrathful activity." Therefore, the mantra practitioner, having matured their being through empowerment and trusting in their vows, should accomplish the complete benefit of themselves and others, which is twofold: through the door of recitation and accomplishment, the method of liberating oneself through realization; and through the door of combining activities, liberating others through compassion, these two are combined. As it also says in the 'Net of Illusion': "First, realize and familiarize yourself with liberation. Then, with non-dual mind, have compassion for the foolish world. Liberate them in a non-dual way." Of these, the first, the way of liberating oneself through realization, is as it says in the 'Peaceful Practice of Manjushri': "In the natural state of self-liberation of all, is the Dharmakaya of unchanging meaning." And as it says in the 'Tantra of the Lord of Life': "The unchanging root is Bodhicitta, one is the nature of all." Therefore, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana gather in the mind, and the very nature of mind is primordially, naturally pure, the essence of the Sugatas, the all-pervading, unchanging realm. This is the non-dual wisdom of the minds of all Buddhas, yet the consciousness with the characteristic of self-grasping grasps the non-dual as dual, and clings to it perversely with wrong conceptualization. Therefore, one has not realized the view of one's own wisdom being inseparable from samsara and nirvana. The obstacle that obstructs the realization of that wisdom, the conceptualization of self-grasping together with its object, is what is to be liberated. As it says in the 'Activity Manual': "To the primordially pure wisdom, suddenly the enemy of self-grasping, the ten grounds." Therefore, that is what is to be liberated. The method of liberating that is, as it says in the 'Peaceful Practice of Manjushri': "Wisdom deity,\

As it is said, "In the mandala, pacify with peaceful means and accomplish with wrathful means." Therefore, the means to approach accomplishment is pacification, and the means to manifestly accomplish accomplishment itself is wrathful action. Firstly, in a secluded and pleasant place, in front of the arranged images, arrange the offering torma and other offerings in a clean and well-ordered manner. By means of dispelling obstacles, setting boundaries, and contemplating the protective circle, properly demarcate the boundaries and practice in a sequence of four sessions. Specifically, sit comfortably on a cushion in the posture of meditation, and recite "Emaho, this precious leisure and endowment of mine," etc. Even though one has obtained a rare basis, one should feel aversion due to the sadness of impermanence and the suffering of samsara. Train the mind by accumulating merit through the sevenfold purification and so forth. This is the preliminary practice. The main practice is: purify all phenomena with the mantra of स्वाभाव (Tibetan: སྭཱ་བྷཱ་ཝ།, Devanagari: स्वभाव, Romanized Sanskrit: svabhāva, Literal Chinese meaning: self-nature), and from non-objectification, contemplate emptiness, the reality without bondage or liberation, like the sky. This is the samadhi of suchness. For sentient beings who have not realized this, cultivate great compassion like an illusion, without attachment, pervading the sky. This is all-appearance. Meditate on the self-aware bodhicitta, the union of emptiness and compassion, on the syllable དྷཱིཿ (Tibetan: དྷཱིཿ, Devanagari: धीः, Romanized Sanskrit: dhīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: wisdom) like molten gold. This is the causal samadhi. From this, radiate and gather light, accomplishing the deeds of the Buddhas. After completely transforming, visualize oneself as peaceful Manjushri, the color of saffron, and bless the three places as the three vajras. Through these, contemplate the wheel of vows. Inspired by the light from one's own heart, invite the wisdom wheel of all the Buddhas to awaken in one's own image, merge it into the wheel of vows, bestow empowerment, and seal it with Vajrasattva. These are the rituals of practicing the inseparability of vows and wisdom, in accordance with the view that samsara and nirvana are inseparable. Then, from one's own heart, emanate offering goddesses, and after offering to oneself in the manner of goddesses offering to the deities and wisdom enjoying wisdom, single-pointedly cultivate samadhi focusing on the clarity and pride of the visualized main deity. Having attained clarity, enter the completion stage, which is the deity thus generated.
