Therefore, combining with any of the above three, meditate on the previous object, and finally, in a clear and non-grasping state, fall asleep without being interrupted by other thoughts. In short, by the power of continuously maintaining the recollection of dreams at all times during the day, when going to sleep at night, the gross appearances of the waking state disappear. Before falling into deep sleep, there is a conceptualization between the appearance of sleep and dreams, which is called the conceptualization between sleep and dreams. Immediately after the experience of a buzzing sound in the ears, or a feeling of numbness in the body, or a feeling of heaviness and pressure, or shortness of breath, or a tingling sensation in the brow, there will be a vague and unclear thought of people or houses, etc. Because this is the cause of dreams, if you can recognize it, just like a thread passing through the eye of a needle, dreams will appear continuously. At that time, without opening your eyes, contract the lower wind, focus on what you have grasped, and perform the seventh practice, and you will not fall into the distraction of waking. For people with good faculties, it may also become proficient because of this. If you repeatedly try to grasp it but still cannot, it is distraction. There are four types of distraction: if you don't want to dream, it is empty distraction; if you dream a lot but don't know you are dreaming, it is dull distraction; if you wake up as soon as you grasp the dream, it is waking distraction; if you fall into an ordinary dream and become confused as soon as you grasp the dream, it is drowsy distraction. If such uncontrolled situations occur repeatedly, you will need the key to cutting off distractions, which should be learned from the oral instructions. Second, there are three types of training: training in expanding and transforming, training in illusion, and training in the liberation of illusion. The first is: once you have grasped it like this, 'all appearances are dreams, and can be transformed at will,' thinking like this, 'transforming from one to many, from many to one, and transforming peaceful and wrathful separately,' therefore, after grasping the dream, you must gain stability in order to practice. And, in order to counteract clinging to one, you need to practice expanding and transforming. Meditate on the Guru Yoga, and after praying for the accomplishment of dreams, for all appearances during the day, break down the clinging with the idea of dreams, thinking: 'I have fallen asleep, all these appearances are the appearances of dreams, the appearances of dreams are not truly existent, so they can be transformed at will.'

Furthermore, one should train in transforming the appearances of the environment and beings, from small to large and back again; multiplying one into many, and gradually gathering many into one; transforming pillars, vases, and so on into sentient beings such as humans and animals; transforming sentient beings, pillars, vases, and so on into whatever one desires in the environment and beings; transforming peaceful ones into wrathful ones, and wrathful ones into peaceful ones, and so on, transforming and changing them in various ways as desired. During the night, one should recognize dreams as dreams, and transform and change them as desired through previous intentions and aims. Secondly, if one dreams of fire, water, cliffs, etc., and fear arises, hindering the training, one should immediately stop whatever arises, thinking: "I am asleep, my ripened body is on the bed, this body is a body of dream imprints, this appearance is also a dream appearance, dreams are unreal and illusory, so the fire in the dream will not burn me, and the water will not carry me away." Thinking this, one should immediately jump into the great fire and flood, strongly remembering that dreams are illusory. Know that dreams are illusions of the mind, and that one's own mind is emptiness. After recognizing this, one should merge the appearance of whatever fear arises with one's own mind, without separation, and rest in equanimity. Thirdly, as it says: "In pure and impure realms, go, listen to the Dharma, observe the state of affairs, thus combine mindfulness day and night, whatever you wish will manifest." In order to generate qualities, one should train in illusory liberation, which is to establish the appearance of objects. That is, for impure realms, such as the abodes of gods and humans, which are good destinies, and the abodes of hells, which are bad destinies, whatever one wishes to see; for pure realms, such as Amitabha Buddha in Sukhavati; or one wishes to meet one's own guru and listen to the Dharma; or one wishes to observe how the pure and impure realms and the state of beings are. By practicing guru yoga, one prays to establish the appearance of objects. During the day, one focuses on the wishes of whatever realms one wants to see and whatever Dharma one wants to hear. At night, when dreams appear, one should know that one can do anything in dreams. Thus, for whatever one wants to see and whatever Dharma and prophecies one wants to hear.
