When practicing dream yoga, during the day, practice with unwavering awareness, and at night, it is the pith instruction of forceful methods. First, as the verse says: 'Although driven by the power of habit, towards the external appearances that arise, grasping, rejecting, and establishing thoughts, like a dream, without distraction, constantly hold with strong mindfulness.' Therefore, in a solitary place, generate strong renunciation towards the impermanence of death and the suffering of samsara. All phenomena are unreal like illusions, and because they do not understand this, these sentient beings wandering in samsara are truly pitiful! Generate unbearable, intense compassion. As before, with strong devotion, pray to the lama to master dreams and accomplish the illusory body of dreams. After praying in this way, from the intense force of devotion, regard the current clinging appearances as unreal, and settle in the nature of the uninterrupted arising of thoughts that vanish like bubbles. Like this, the good and bad objects that appear, and the thoughts of accepting and rejecting them, are all illusory appearances and experiences that leave imprints in the mind, and apart from that, there is not even a particle of truth to be found. These appearances are appearances, but they are not real, thus generally recognizing unreality, and especially practicing by knowing it is a dream. Think like this: I have fallen asleep, this appearance is a dream, it is an illusion. Firmly believe that you have indeed fallen asleep, and focus your attention on such mindfulness. Afterwards, in all activities such as walking, sleeping, sitting, eating, speaking, etc., think: This is death, it is not needed in any way. And, without separating from the appearance of the lama, maintain intense devotion. In particular, strongly think: I have fallen asleep, this walking is also in a dream. Like this, in meditation and post-meditation, continuously maintain mindfulness, so that appearances become unreal and colorless, then relax and abide in a non-conceptual state. Afterwards, focus the mind on all appearances of oneself and others, thinking: These are all appearances, but they are not real. In particular, strongly and without distraction, think: I have fallen asleep, all these appearances are indeed dreams. The second point is: When sleeping, with the mind that grasps dreams, slowly engage in activities, this is the key point of the mind. Visualize a stainless white 'Ah' (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: none) in the heart, various

With radiating light, dissolve samsara and nirvana into the A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A). Like the moon rising in the immaculate sky, lie down in a state of clear appearance without separation. Have many dreams and seize clarity. Thus, in the evening when going to sleep, practice the Guru Yoga with strong devotion. Pray that tonight you may have many dreams, have clear dreams, have good dreams, and be able to recognize dreams as dreams. Or, pray to seize the dreams. Pray intensely like this. Act slowly so as not to disturb the channels and winds. The body posture can be either the lotus position, squatting, head pointing north with a high pillow, or lying in one of the three lion postures with the right side down. The key point of visualization: Visualize your own body as the clear and empty deity form, and in the heart, visualize a white, immaculate A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) syllable, which is of the nature of light, and rest evenly and calmly. Remember the devotion to the Guru and the intention of dreaming. From the A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) syllable, rays of five-colored light, like rainbows, radiate and pervade all appearances. Generate the thought that "this is a dream." By this, whatever appears of samsara and nirvana, all those appearances dissolve into light like a flickering flame, and remember the dream. Then, the light gathers back and dissolves into the A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) in the heart. Remember this. The A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) syllable appears clearly like the moon rising in the clear sky, focus on this and remember it. In that very state, focus on the A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) syllable being clear and without grasping, and then fall asleep, so that you will have many and clear dreams, and you will realize, "This is a dream." There are two types of seizing: The gentle seizing is when you think, "I am dreaming," and then many subtle fragments of sleep occur. The rough seizing is when you dream of a terrifying and frightening scene, such as falling off a cliff or being chased by a dog, and from this you realize, "This is a dream." If you do not seize the dream in the evening, then upon waking up, reflect, "I had such a dream in the evening, but I did not seize it," and meditate on it as illusion. Think, "Now I must seize it no matter what," generate this thought, and then go to sleep meditating on the previous visualization. If even this does not work, then it is the key of time. Dawn, daybreak, and sunrise are the three times. When you wake up in the late night when there is still a little sleepiness left, maintain the body posture and meditate on the same previous visualization with strong intention. Once you reach any of these three times, the body pos
