The Quintessential Instructions on the Four Visions of the Distinctive Completion Stage of Vajrasattva's Heart Practice: The Wheel of Manifest Luminosity The Wheel of Manifest Luminosity: Quintessential Instructions on the Four Visions of the Distinctive Completion Stage of Vajrasattva's Heart Practice. Translated by the great translator Dharmashri. Om, Siddhi, Rastu. From the very beginning, the unchanging, luminous expanse, the spontaneously present, radiant Vajrasattva, appearing in the vision of compassion, I bow to the glorious protector lama. In the practice of Vajrasattva's heart, the distinctive completion stage of the four visions, I will explain the essential points of the clarifying words, the Wheel of Manifest Luminosity. As it is said, "When familiarity with the common completion stage above has become stable, the secret, essential instructions will be shown." Therefore, as in the common completion stage, after introducing the view of the state of primordial purity, and after familiarity with the practice of bliss-clarity, non-conceptual wisdom has become stable, in the distinctive completion stage, in order to manifest spontaneous wisdom, one should enter this profound path of Tögal. This has three parts: preliminary, main practice, and conclusion. First, from the Clear Expanse, "In order to make manifest the essential point, the outer, inner, and secret activities, abandon the ninefold activities of body, speech, and mind." Thus, abandon the activities of the three doors. The activities of the body: outer, the activities of worldly delusion; inner, the inferior virtues such as prostrations and circumambulations; secret, even the slightest movement is abandoned, remaining unmoving in the posture of meditation. The activities of speech: outer, worldly chatter; inner, recitations and repetitions; secret, even the flow of breath is abandoned, remaining like a mute. The activities of the mind: outer, worldly deluded thoughts; inner, conceptual thoughts of study and contemplation, and various objects of mind-holding; secret, abandoning all the distractions of conceptual thought, remaining in a state of non-conceptuality. Second, the main practice: "The six essential points of body, speech, and mind doors, objects, and winds." As it is said, if these are categorized, there are two: holding the essential points of the three doors, and based on the three essential points, recognizing manifest self-recognition. The first has three parts: the essential point of the body, "By the distinction of knowing the place and element, the posture of lion, elephant, and sage." As it is said, by the distinction of the place of viewing, the lower the ground, the wider the view of the sky.

Small and slightly high, the view is medium; high and the view is vast, there are three types. In terms of the difference in temperament, the elements of the body are of three types: predominantly hot, balanced hot and cold, and predominantly cold. In terms of the difference in knowledge, there are three types: sinking, alternating between sinking and agitation, and predominantly agitated. For these, it is important to cherish the three ways of dwelling of the Dharma, Enjoyment, and Emanation bodies in accordance with their respective ways of seeing. Among them, the posture of the Dharma body is like a lion: the body sits in a majestic posture, with the soles of the feet together on the ground, the knees turned outwards, the fingers curled and placed on the ground, the arms straightened, the upper body thrown like a lion, and the strength concentrated on the neck. This stops the karma winds, increases the wisdom winds, and allows the Dharma nature to appear naturally. The posture of the Enjoyment body is like an elephant: face down, knees and chest close together, toes pushed outwards, elbows propped on the ground, palms supporting the throat, fingers touching the cheeks, and the neck slightly raised. This extinguishes the moving thoughts and allows one to abide in the state of non-duality of space and awareness. The posture of the Emanation body is like a hermit squatting: both soles of the feet are placed on the ground, and one squats with both legs together. The spine is straight and the neck is straightened directly, with the hands crossed around the waist or knees. This balances the elements and slows them down, allowing one to abide in a state where space and awareness are inseparable. The key point of speech is: Speech is the cessation of false speech, as it is said, so one should learn to speak less each day, cut off meaningless talk with others, and not speak anything except reciting scriptures and mantras. Eventually, one should also stop reciting and not say anything at all. The key point of mind is: Mind is the separation from the thoughts of the three times, abiding in a state of non-fabrication and non-attachment, as it is said, so in the midst of the external space, one should erect the senses like a spear without changing them. Separate the mind from the thoughts of the past, present, and future memories, thoughts, distractions, and retractions, and learn to abide in a state of non-fabrication and non-attachment without wavering. These are also stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization: The key point of manifestation is body, speech, and mind, and their respective places must be adapted, and the three bodies of the body should not be constantly changed. Speech is learning and abiding.
