"Without moving, stay." Therefore, do not move the posture of the body. Do not move the eyeballs even for a moment, but fix your gaze on an object of focus like a bindu, or stare blankly at a distance of about an arrow's length in space. Hold the gentle breath slightly and restrain speech. The heart of the mind is not to be distracted, but to rest the mind on the fleeting awareness, and to look at it with complete concentration, so that you gradually become accustomed to it. At that time, without any modification, naturally, without thought, without beginning or end, like a clear sky, without changing, rest calmly. Next, the method of abiding in the unity of the nature of self-liberation, primordial emptiness, and complete liberation is: "If there is arising, it is the mind of awareness; without color or shape, it cannot be grasped. If there is abiding, it is the mind of awareness; self-liberated, the original state. Without acceptance or rejection, without hope or fear, without calculation; abide in primordial emptiness, complete liberation." Therefore, no matter what arises, fully observe the nature of what arises, without any modification, naturally, relax and abide without clinging. Or, write the letter "A" in front of you, remember the unborn, and gaze intently. When the mind abides in that state, relax in a state without focus. Therefore, at those times, "Sometimes like a crow from a ship; follow its direction, maintain awareness." For example, chase a crow away from a ship and observe where it flies. Because the ocean is too vast, it cannot reach the edge, and the crow will eventually return to the ship. Similarly, when thoughts arise clearly from their place, fully observe their nature, so that they cannot be stopped, and thoughts will naturally appear as the nature of abiding, so maintain that state. Also, "Sometimes visualize the white nadi; starting from the navel, up to the crown of the head. In the nadi, visualize a bindu; white moving up and down." Therefore, visualize a white bindu the size of a bean moving up and down in the central channel from the navel to the crown of the head. If you are drowsy, then the method to eliminate drowsiness is: "If drowsy, a white bindu between the eyebrows; visualize it rotating like a bean." Meditate like this, and also raise your eyes slightly, so that you can eliminate drowsiness. Sometimes abide in a non-objective state of equanimity; during breaks between sessions, recognize awareness, and then relax.

Rest in equanimity; thereby, non-conceptuality will become habitual. Thus, interrupting non-attention, etc., in short, severing even the thought of resting in equanimity during the session, without thinking or contemplating, without scattering or gathering, rest single-pointedly in a state of non-attention. When rising from the session, merely recognize the nature of that abiding, and again, in that state, relax loosely, without abandoning or retaining, and rest. Thus, after the main practice is completed, the third, the subsequent sequence is: Afterwards, all outer and inner appearances are self-appearances, like dreams; even though they appear, they are unreal, like reflections of the moon in water; they are merely dependent origination, like illusions; look without attachment, aversion, hope, or fear. Thus, in order to enhance the effectiveness of view and meditation, apply the experience that arises in equanimity to all self-appearances of the senses in the post-meditation period, making them of one taste. By knowing that appearances are merely dependent origination and illusion, take all activities as companions on the path and practice accordingly. In short, whatever afflictions or thoughts arise, like waves dissolving into the ocean, transform whatever arises into the path of the Dharmakaya. Thus, in all activities, without separating from self-awareness, strive to practice the path of the Dharmakaya. Existence and non-existence, Appearances and emptiness are merely labels; samsara and nirvana are self-appearances, free from clinging to reality; acceptance and rejection, hope and fear, are merely mental constructs; ultimately, train in the non-dual Dharmakaya. As it is said, by training in this way, the meaning of the luminous nature of mind will undoubtedly become manifest, so listen to the detailed instructions from the mouth of a qualified lama with experiential instructions, from whom you will surely recognize it. Thus, this is a brief summary of the essential points of the Vajrasattva guidance's stages of contemplation. This is a note taken by three monks of Chokor Yangtse (Chos 'khor yang rtse), who are solely focused on renunciation, and the hermit Druk Rigdzin (brag rig 'dzin). Dharma Shri, having requested permission from the lama, transcribed it accurately by the light of a butter lamp at night.
