A Text on Maintaining the Three Vows in Six Sessions A Text on Maintaining the Three Vows in Six Sessions. Namo Guru Sarva Buddha Bodhisattvebhyah May the unchangeable bodhichitta, the root, be firm. May the supreme two accumulations, the branches, flourish. May the four kayas, the vajra fruits, bow in reverence. May the guru, the wish-fulfilling tree, be victorious. To those who wish to diligently practice the essence of the pure and excellent path of the three vows, For the sake of the fortunate beginners, I will explain the ritual of six-session practice. Here, for the benefit of oneself and others, those who wish to attain the state of omniscience, the Dharma to be practiced is: diligently making the essence of the three vows, the source of all qualities of abandonment and realization. Therefore, for the fortunate beginners, the number and order of practices are as follows: Inspire the mind with the remembrance of the difficulty of finding leisure and fortune, and the renunciation of the unbearable suffering of samsara. In a clean room, visualize the refuge field clearly in the sky in front. All sentient beings, fearing the suffering of samsara, seek refuge. Thinking, "Whatever you do, may the Guru and the Three Jewels remember," Until the essence of bodhichitta, I go for refuge to the Buddhas. Like this, take refuge with sincere heart. This is the teaching to remember the benefits of taking refuge and to take refuge six times day and night. And in the vows of each of the five families, in the vow of the Tathagata family, taking refuge in the Three Jewels, this is the means of protection. Then, with the loving-kindness of knowing the six realms of beings as kind mothers, and with the compassion of being drawn by the helplessness of those who are afflicted by suffering. May all sentient beings have happiness and the cause of happiness; may they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering; may they never be separated from the happiness without suffering; may they abide in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion to near and far. Thus, practice the four immeasurables. This is the loving-kindness of giving the four kinds of giving in the Ratna family, and the vow to protect the fearlessness of giving with immeasurable equanimity, and the supreme excellence.
