A Concise Guide on How to Teach and Study the Sacred Dharma. Lo chen Dharma Shri. A Concise Guide on How to Teach and Study the Sacred Dharma. Lo chen Dharma Shri. A Concise Guide on How to Teach and Study the Sacred Dharma. Oṃ Svasti Siddham (藏文:ༀ་སྭ་སྟི་སིདྡྷཾ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ svasti siddhaṃ,汉语字面意思:Om, may there be well-being, may there be accomplishment). I prostrate to all the noble Lamas, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas. Here, I will briefly explain how to teach and study the sacred Dharma. This has four aspects: the one who teaches, the teacher; the object to be taught, the student; the method of teaching and studying the Dharma to be taught; and the benefits of doing so. Firstly, in general, as it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: "A spiritual friend is tamed, peaceful, and near peace, Excelling in qualities, diligent, especially rich in scripture, Realizing that very nature, skilled in speaking, possessing love, Abandoning weariness, rely on such a one." As it is said, one whose body and speech are tamed by pure morality, whose mind is pacified by meditative concentration, who is nearly pacified by pure wisdom, who excels due to qualities surpassing others, who is diligent and without laziness in benefiting others, especially, who is rich in scripture due to great learning, who thoroughly realizes the meaning of what is to be taught, and who is skilled in words, possessing the wisdom to teach the Dharma according to the inclinations of each individual without obstruction, who teaches with love and without material gain, and who is without weariness, possesses ten qualities. Thus, it is also said: "A Bodhisattva with much Dharma, Seeing the truth, skilled in speech, and loving, A noble being without weariness, Should be known as a great being." And, the Omniscient Dharma Lord said: "A peaceful body, pure conduct, and without flaws, Skilled in cutting doubts, speech pleasant and without stain, The mind is deep, a treasury of omniscient wisdom, Qualities are limitless, Great learning and compassion, Wisdom vast, thoughts and conduct like the sky, Activities immeasurable, every connection meaningful, Loving, abandoning weariness, and always diligent, Rely on the one who turns beings upwards." In particular, the characteristics of a Vajrayana Lama are: In the Secret Path Stages of the Buddha, it says: "The teacher possesses the treasury, the river is complete, Possessing the guardian, skilled in tantra and action, Holding the warmth of the oral instructions, holding the eight." Thus, possessing eight qualities: being skilled in the meaning of the three stages of generation, completion, and ultimate, is the treasury of secrets.

Possessing three qualities: Complete with the waters of the four empowerments. Possessing the vessel capable of guarding secrets, and possessing the diligence to not abandon them. Being skilled in the meaning of the tantras, able to unravel the student's stream of consciousness. Being skilled in performing activities such as mandala empowerment, pacifying and increasing. Possessing the experience of oral transmission, thus holding the warmth of the instructions. Thus, it is also said in the Vajra Arrangement: "The teacher possesses the treasury, complete with the waters, with vows and commitments, endowed with loving compassion, being skilled and diligent in benefiting others, one should rely on the vajra secret teacher in every way." And in the Great Arrangement of Ati: "Being skilled and free from activities, having reached the measure in the meaning of the nature of reality, without delusion in the meaning of desire, is the characteristic of the secret mantra lama." Thus it is said. Summarizing these, they are: The wisdom of the learned. The thought of love. Or the three of combining patience. With pure morality, body and speech are pure. With pure wisdom, one is skilled in scripture and reasoning. With pure higher intention, one benefits others. Especially, the lama who shows the essential path is: Able to cut through exaggerations with the instructions of words. Able to generate realization with the introduction of meaning. Able to transform appearances with the splendor of blessings. Able to eliminate obstacles with skillful means of experience, thus possessing four qualities. Merely hearing the name of such a lama, or seeing his face, or hearing his voice, can purify the various obscurations of one's own mind-stream and connect one with inconceivable wisdom. As it is said in the Hevajra Tantra: "The co-emergent wisdom not spoken by others, is not found anywhere, the lama shows the means of the time, it is known from one's own merit." Therefore, if one does not find one who is complete with all qualities, one should rely on one who has more qualities. As it is said in the Essential Reliance: "Due to the power of the degenerate age, the lama's faults and virtues are mixed, in all aspects there is no one without fault, whichever has more virtues, also after careful examination, the disciples should rely on that one." Thus. When a disciple relies on a lama, first observe with three methods of observation. In the middle, seek with three methods of seeking. Finally, rely with three methods of reliance. The first is: Observing from afar by asking others. Observing oneself from nearby. Observing by relying on the wish-fulfilling deity and divination. The second is: Thus
