In the garden of the three sections of the Root Tantra commentary, the ear of the collection of excellent explanations of astrology, which yields the inexhaustible fruit of desires, ripens with the warmth and moisture of intellectual diligence, appears here. 1 Since this principle has been clarified by all the learned scholars, what need is there for me, an ordinary person, to add anything further? Nevertheless, with the power of intellectual exploration, I have reached the ultimate shore of vast knowledge. 2 At the urging of the great being Chakpa Chöpel, Dharmaśrī (藏文,梵文天城体,Dharmaśrī,法吉祥) composed this. Whatever errors there may be, I ask forgiveness from the holy ones, and especially from the one who urged me. 3 By whatever pure white virtue I have accumulated here, may I and the hosts of ignorance and darkness of beings, together with the army of the flower-arrowed one, be destroyed, and may we attain the state of perfect enlightenment. 4 This, called "The Ear of the Collection of Excellent Explanations of the General Meaning of Astrology," having placed its feet on the jewels on the crowns of all the arrogant, arranging the stamens of the lotus, stealing the pride of the lord of immortality, and the king who forcefully upholds the precious doctrine possessing the ten powers on the foundation of the earth, the all-knowing great glorious Ocean of Buddha, unobstructed in all that is to be known, victorious in all directions, at the urging of the virtuous friend Chakpa Chöpel, who has attained mastery over countless fields of inner and outer knowledge from touching the dust of his feet, the mad little monk Dharmaśrī (藏文,梵文天城体,Dharmaśrī,法吉祥), the crest jewel of the lineage of the Vajradhara great treasure master, has written down what he has somewhat understood through the kindness of the learned teachers. It was completed at the great Dharma College of Ogyen Mindroling during the winter Dharma session at the beginning of the month, may it be auspicious and fortunate! Ema! The talk of the five sciences, difficult to surpass on earth, hearing it makes the mind shrink. But through the strength of being accustomed to the sting of sorrow, I even hate the small streams of branches. 1 Therefore, having become subject to the power of carelessness, I have abandoned the life of wisdom and liberation. I suspect that this is the harm of a demonic spirit that has entered the depths of my mind. 2 Therefore, I am especially delighted in the benefit and happiness of the teachings and beings. The merit of diligence in study and contemplation is beyond words. 3 Therefore, on the expanse of the vast earth.

In order for the lotus garden of eloquent speech to flourish, May the stream of well-spoken astrology of the sleepers Be guided from the path of the white field of merit. 4. May its merit, the wish-fulfilling jewel, Not be confined to this six-part land, But disguised as a fierce army, May it spread throughout the twelve continents! 5. Through that power, may the beings of the three realms, Develop respect for the new age of perfection, May the source of wonders, the teaching of the Sage, Certainly rejoice especially in the Dharma. 6. At that time, may the white umbrella of understanding and realization, Become the one who pervades all of space, the one with activity, Become the agent who is lifted by arms, May I become the guru of beings! 7. Thus, it was spoken by the one who performs virtuous deeds.
