Mind Training Teachings Collection LJ26 'The Seven Points of Mind Training' by Jowo 1-250 ༄༅། །The Seven Points of Mind Training by Jowo ༄། །The history of the lineage of Lamas, trustworthy and with faith. The Seven Points of Mind Training by Jowo. Namo Guru. Supreme of the path of all Buddhas of the three times, union of love and compassion and emptiness, able to equalize self and others, and exchange happiness and suffering. I prostrate to the compassionate Bodhicitta! Realizing the true emptiness, the equality of self and others. Without enemies or friends, the equalizing Bodhicitta. Whichever it arises in, it accomplishes enlightenment. Without adding or subtracting, I write as the Lama said. Therefore, for the history of the lineage of Lamas, trustworthy and with faith, and for the sake of receiving blessings, meditating on the Guru Yoga, meditating on love for sentient beings, meditating on compassion through the door of the three wheels, introducing the two minds of aspiration and engagement, transforming obstacles into the path, and meditating fixedly on that which has an object, there are seven aspects. The first is: Although Jowo (Atiśa) had many Lamas, this lineage is: Vajradhara, Tilopa, Naropa, Ḍombipa, Jowo Rinpoche (Atiśa), Tshang Wangchuk Gyaltsen, Potowa, Gya Chakriwa, Lhari Tsagyapa, Dwags po Lhaje, Phagdru, Gya Gomriwa Zhipo, Gya Kharris, Rinchen Dragmarwa, Zhang Dragkarwa, Lama Konchok Jangchub Pal. 1-251 Gyonnu Drag, Lobpon Zhang, then Sherab Sonam, then Tsondu La, then Lobpon Chokchok La, then Lobpon Tsultrim Pal, then Buddha Ratna, then Kirti Shila, then Choje Gyalwa Sangpo, then Choje Sonam Rinchen, then Gyonnu Gyalchok, then myself. Meditating on the Guru Yoga for the sake of receiving blessings. Second, meditating on the Guru Yoga for the sake of being blessed: For the benefit of all sentient beings, generate the thought of meditating on the mind of enlightenment, and visualize your root Guru on a lotus and moon seat. From his heart, rays of light radiate, shining on all connected beings, then gathering back and dissolving into the Guru. Likewise, gather all the lineage Lamas, the assembly of Yidam deities, and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and dissolve them into the Guru. Then offer your body, possessions, and the merits of the three times to the Guru, and generate devotion and longing. Earnestly pray for blessings so that love, compassion, and the special mind of enlightenment may arise in your mindstream. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the end of practicing the Guru Yoga. Practicing Loving-kindness for Sentient Beings: The third is to cultivate loving-kindness towards them. First, visualize your own root parents in front of you. This mother placed me in the human realm when I was united with the aggregates, and her kindness is immense. When I was in her womb for nine months and ten days, she nurtured me with loving thoughts, thinking, 'How wonderful it would be if my child could become unique!' She prayed for the sake of her child. Praying for good fortune, offering torma, sprinkling water, reciting scriptures, and so on. Even for the sake of her child, she avoids all harmful actions. After birth, I was just a small bundle of hair, less than a handful of ashes, If a small pebble were placed on me, I would suffer as if dying. She warmed me with her body temperature, wiped away my impurities with her hands, chewed food to feed me, and wiped my snot with her tongue. When I grew a little bigger, When I could eat on my own, call my parents' names, and walk a little, she was happy and cherished me even more than her own body. For the sake of her child, she took care of me regardless of any hardship. She called me by sweet names and looked at me with loving eyes. When I grew up, she gave me everything she had accumulated with great effort, without any hesitation. For the sake of her child, she took all the joys and sorrows upon herself. If she had the power, even if she could place me in the body of a universal monarch, she would not think it was enough. If she could grant me achievements beyond the world, even if she could grant me the bliss of a Buddha, she would not think it was enough. She nurtured me with loving thoughts, looked at me with loving eyes, and called me with sweet words, nurturing me as if I were a piece of flesh separated from her heart. She gave me all the food, clothing, and wealth that she could use, and cherished me more than herself. Even if she didn't see me for a day, she would feel uneasy. She gave me all kinds of help and removed all kinds of harm. Thinking of this kind person who has been so kind to me, I should shed tears or feel my hair stand on end. I should think about how I can repay this mother's kindness and make her happy. Similarly, think of your siblings and family in the same way. Then think of your neighbors and fellow villagers. Similarly, think of the sentient beings you see with your eyes. Then, cultivate loving-kindness towards all sentient beings of the six realms who pervade the sky. If the power of loving-kindness is not strong enough, cultivate it towards each of the six realms individually until loving-kindness arises. From beginningless time until now... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
